Actually, many scholars believe that Revelations was written about a schism in the early Christian church and that the anti-Christ was a person who was living at that time whom the author of Revelations felt had taken over the church and was perverting Christ's teachings. The anti-Christ may have been Paul.
Certainly the events in Revelations are not meant to be taken as a literal prophecies, but perhaps as allegories, much like Christ's stories and parables.
As for 666, I think that somehow we in today do not grasp all the meanings of the numbers used in the Bible. i don't think that the author literally meant that we should find instances of 666 and use them to try to identify the "anti-Christ."
Finally, even if one accepts that the book of Revelation is a foretelling of the end times, what should that mean for us as Christians. Does the fact that Jesus might come back in a year mean that we should live differently than if we knew he was not coming back for another century? I don't think that it should make a difference to the choices we make as a moral people.
In every age since the book of Revelations was written, people have speculated that the end of the world was near and it has been over 2000 years.

I saw a question on here and it asked if George Bush was the anti christ and they gave a website called www.georgebushtheantichrist.com
I went to it and it was WEIRD. It talked about how his name in the hebrew #ing of letters adds up to 666 and that he is related to like royal families or something and it talked about how all this was what the anti christ would be.

We have quite enough human demons to deal with, distinguishing between them and choosing the lesser of evils is hard enough in reality w/out worrying too much about fantasy.

people seriously need to stop asking these questions. there is no way of ever knowing when Christ will return. stop expecting it all the time and just live (a just and faithful life, of course). it's what He wants you to do.
