I am SOOOO sorry!!! I know how you feel, I had to put my 12year old rottie down in March. You don't ever really get over it, you just get used to living with the pain. again i'm sorry and will keep you in my thoughts

I'm so sorry for your loss and i know what you are going through. My 12 year old Lhasa Apso died in my arms July 3rd and I cried and cried. As a matter of fact, I cried today just thinking of him. The best thing for me was to get another dog. And I did just 9 days later, I adopted a 2 1/2 year old pure-bred chihuahua (see picture). Even though he will never replace my other dog, he certainly makes my day more exciting and enjoyable since he's almost like a puppy to me--so much more faster and livelier than my other dog. Think of all the good times you and your dog had together and how she made you smile. My dog was suffering at the end and I'm glad he was home and in my arms when he died and your dog knows that her trusting life was taken gently. She left the earth knowing, with the last breath she drew, that her fate was always safest in your hands.

I had to put my bull terrier down last month, so I know what you are going through, believe me.
I know its absolute hell, especially if you are close to your pets. If you have any other dogs/pets, you can try doing what I did.
Lavish them with all the love and affection you can muster. I'm constantly holding or playing with my other dog now. I dont really know why, but I feel better when I'm around my other dog.
I'm not saying the pain will dissapear instantly, but the scars will slowly heal. Just try remembering all the great times you had with your lab, and all the love it gave you.
I really hope this helps, I'm feeling sad now on your behalf, I know its horrible to lose an animal you consider familky.
Good luck, you'll be in my thoughts.

Honey, When this happens at your age it is harder. It is still hard at my age(47) but I have more perspective. That only comes with time. There will be much joy and sadness in your life as there is in every ones. It will hurt alot for awhile. I don't recommend getting another canine friend until you are ready. You need to take time to mourn your loss. You gave her the best life she could have. I have had to put more than one of my friends to sleep and it doesn't get easier. You will gain strength from each challenge life presents to you. I now have 2 dogs I got from a rescue group. I love them. I also love all the dogs I have lost. They will always be in my heart.

I cannot get over how animals move our hearts and souls. How sad you feel but remember all the wonderful times you and Daisy shared. She always knew your love and you will never forget hers ever. You poor darling- in time you will be able to make room again in your heart for another loving dog. You did Daisy a great favor by letting her leave in peace and comfort and the memories of a happy life with you...

It's OK to be sad over the death of a family member, and that's just what this dog was to you. It can take a long time to get over something like this, and you shouldn't rush it. You need to mourn just like you would for the death of any other close friend.
Here's some info that might help.

I'm sure that you will eventually get a new dog to give your love to, but don't rush it. It will help with the process but there is a right time for everything.

I am sorry you had to put down your dog but you did the right thing. Our sacrifice is their relief. You should speak with an adult who deals with grief and loss. Do you have a clergyman you can speak with or some teacher who might understand? A dog can be part of our family. Saying good-bye is not easy and the feelings you are experiencing are to be expected even though they are not good feelings. With time the depth of pain will ease, and what will be left will be sweet memories. God bless.

You'll be ok. It really is an aweful thing but this happens to dogs when they get about 10-15 years old. At least she had a good life.
Maybe you should just put her pictures away and get a puppy dog sometime. I know if I pull out my old doggies pictures, I cry sometimes so I finally threw them away. I love my current doggie but it took some time to love him the way I loved my other doggie.
Everyone goes through it. Sounds like you helped her have a good life. You should be happy that she doesn't have to suffer.

It is ok to be very sad that you put your dog to sleep, she was a family member. But, remember animals don't live as long as we do, and 13 years is a long life for a dog. I put my doberman to sleep 3 years ago. He was 9 and I still grieve for him, but I understand that it was an easy way for him to pass. He was suffering and his quality of life was not going to improve. I said I would NEVER get another dog. But, about a month later I bought a little 8 week old Jack Russell and he is a joy. He helped me get over my loss. Good Luck

Sweetie, it's normal to feel sick and sad. Time will help, you won't always feel this bad.
Remember the good times. The goofy things she did and all her quirks. That will help.
Also, remember that she hated it when you were sad for any reason. Her job on this Earth was to be your friend and make you happy. Honor her memory by trying not to be so sad.
She is no longer in pain, she isn't suffering, and I believe we will see our pets again when we pass away.
Don't let anyone tell you it's just a dog, she wasn't just a dog, she was your friend.
My condolences.

im sorry u had to go through this at such a young age, i know its really painful right now but it will get better but never go completely away.
if your dog was suffering then it might make u feel better knowing that shes not suffering anymore
i have had several dogs of mine to die and its quite painful
especially when u have had it so long
i hope things will get better and maybe one day u will get another puppy to keep u company, and take your mind off of it
take care and remember she is in doggy heaven playing and having a great time with Jesus right now and looking oover u .
