Germaine in french and Jermaine in english is not the same!!!
We french don't know the name "Jermaine" (like Dupri or Jackson) for a male. But we use Germaine, as a female name only, it's a very old-fashioned one!!!!
Edit Catherine is right : Germaine is the female name of Germain.
