I found these two little kittens yesterday at a abandond house. They look as though they were there for about a week. They are as skinny as a toothpick, so I took them home. I dont know how old they are. They may be 6 weeks or more maybe. But I dont think they are 12 weeks, the age they have to be for the flea and tick shampoo. Which they desperatley need.

One of the kittens has like puss or eye bugers in the corner of her eye. What could that be? Should I be conserned?

I wouldn't recommend human shampoo -- too many chemicals. You can get a pet shampoo, or just use plain water and pick the fleas off with tweezers. Ticks require special attention from a vet -- you can't just pull them off, because the head stays attached to the animal.
Don't use any store-bought flea/tick products, especially on kittens. They don't work, and will often make them sick.

No, do not use human shampoo, it can irritate their eyes or skin, and is harmful if swallowed.
At this age both kittens need to go to the vet for a check and shots. Especially if they were found outside..Eye goop can be a sign of something serious, or it may be harmless(something in their eye), but you can't be sure until he's checked out.
How to age the kittens:
1. Umbilical cord attached: They are 3 days or younger.
2. Eyes: They begin to open at 7-8 days and all eyes should be open by day 10. Their eyes generally change from blue to blue/gray then yellow/green between 6 1/2 to 7 weeks of age but can vary kitten-to-kitten and litter-to-litter. In one litter, kittens can be conceived 4-5 days apart. This also contributes to the different days the eyes open.
3. Ears: Their ears stand up at 3-1/2 weeks of age.
4. Teeth: Another way to age the kittens is by the teeth. The following is from the Cornell Book of Cats. The ages are when the teeth break the skin or 'eruption of the teeth' happens, or when they break the surface.
Baby teeth:
Center (4) Incisors (front teeth between the canines) 2-3 weeks
Outer Incisors (still between the canines) 3-4 weeks
Canines 3-4 weeks
Upper molars (called a premolar) 2 months (8 weeks)
Lower molars (called a premolar) 4-5 weeks
Adult teeth:
Center (4) Incisors (front teeth between the canines) 3-1/2 to 4 months (14-16 weeks)
Outer Incisors (still beaten the canines) 4 to 4-1/2 months (16-18 weeks)
Canines 5 months
Upper molars (called a premolar) 4-1/2 to 6 months (depending on tooth)
Lower molars (called a premolar) 5-6 months for all
Upper molar in back, no baby tooth, just the molar at 4-5 months

DO NOT USE OVER-THE-COUNTER FLEA TREATMENTS OR FLEA SHAMPOO ON CATS OF ANY AGE!
Regular pet shampoo will kill the fleas that are on them without poisoning your cat. If they are really young, use a baby/kitten shampoo or dishwashing liquid to bathe them. Suds them up really well then rinse really well. The fleas will suffocate in the soap. You might have to pick some off of their faces. Use a washcloth to was their faces and try to avoid getting in the eyes. If you do, rinse them really well with clean water. If they are at least 7 weeks old, they are old enough for topical flea treatments from your vet (Revolution, Advantage, Frontline). These are safe for use in cats.

Only use shampoo for kittens. Human shampoo can irriate their skin and can be toxic and don't use dog shampoo either. If their to youg try getting a flea comb and comb them out. Or just take them to a vet and have them do something about the fleas and ticks

You can use baby shampoo until they are old enough for flea and tick shampoo. If they have fleas you can add a little vinegar to the mix. I have 2 cats they I got before they were old enough for flea and tick shampoo, and this is how I washed them. They didn't have any problems with it, and are over a year old now.

At that young age, just use water & loving hands. Then after they are about 3 to 6 months old use kitten shampoo.

Baby shampoo is gentle enough for kittens. The puss in her eyes maybe from an infection and the vet can give you an ointment for her.

You can actually use dishwashing soap such as Dawn for their bath, or a baby shampoo that won't burn the eyes in case some accidentally gets in. It won't get all the fleas and you will need a flea comb to comb, comb, comb to keep up with them. I used to heat a coffee mug of water in the micro to almost boiling, swipe the comb through the kits and dunk the comb real fast into the mug.

as you are cleaning them wipe the one with the stuff in its eye with a separate wash cloth dont let the stuff from the one's eye get into the one without the stuff in it eyes because this could be contagious...you will have to clean it several times a day with a warm washcloth it may be infected and need vets care but in the mean time just keep it clean as you can and you need to fatten them up buy some canned food such as nine lives or whatever and feed it to them twice a day and you need kitten chow dry food let them eat that as much as they want leave it out for them
