...that there is no God, no heaven and no hell, would you live you life different? Would you abandon all morals? Do you think most religious believers would do this? Is religion, the fear of God and the hope of spiritual reward the only thing that keeps you in check?

I would keep living my life as I do. I sometimes commit wrongs against another, I sometimes tell whitelies, and yes, I feel guilt and remorse. And I do believe in God. I pray and ask for forgiveness and faith. If it all boiled down to no Heaven or hell and no God...I would still do the same things and still believe in the magic of the realm we live in. As a whole, my life is pretty great. I am blessed to have 3 really great friends, one being my mother, I am a great person and am generally pretty happy. Life is like a rubix cube. You can go along the hard way and try to figure out the puzzle, or....you can peel the stickers off and finish the puzzle the easy way. I believe most all of us are guilty at times of switching the stickers....

Religious believers would not believe this claim to there not being a god because of their faith. (see ladytoobusy above) I would not live differently. I do some things in my everyday life that some consider sins but do many things that are good and pure. I believe that you should live your life the best and happiest way for you not for a fear of god or the afterlife but for you. This would not change if i found there to be no god.

If that is the case, given the results of thousands of years of religious belief in Christianity, Judaism and Islam, we are in for some serious trouble! So serious, in fact, it is completely incomprehensible by the human mind. On the other hand...

"Conscience" is the human characteristic that keeps the vast majority of people in check. The lack of one is the fundamental basis for psychopathy.

Do we need religion then? Only insomuch as it serves the spirituality of the individual. If it does more, if it tries to control or influence politics, if it amasses armies bent on murdering the "other," it becomes the criminal, the social psychopath.

It would only hold true to my belief that religions were made to keep the HERD in line, that man created it to be able to carry out their powertrips.

If i found out tomorrow there was no heaven and hell it would make no difference, I know gods conscious exhists. What keeps me in check is my brothers and sisters, my fellow humans, who yet are led down wrong paths; But carry the love and light and energy of a star in them.........it would make no difference id still be a hippie is what im trying to say!

what has always struck me as funny was when Madeline Murray O Hare won her suit for prayer in school. the first word's out of her mouth were " THANK GOD " I'm a believer but not religious, but I still try to live a moral life because it's the right thing to do.

No because I know it's not true. I don't just pray to God but I feel God in my life. I feel him with me everyday. I have seen god work in too many things in my life to disbelieve now. It's too late. I can't imagine ever surviving this far without him. Nobody would ever be able to convince me different. He walks with me daily and answers my prayer. His love is wonderful and I feel this everyday. I thank him for the miracle works in my life.
To add I don't believe religion will get you to heaven. If you have God in your life you will not fear going to hell. Fear of going to hell is not what is the worst but total seperation from God. I make my share of mistakes and have been quite a hypocrite at times; but I love the Lord. (Country Girl For Life) Thank You!

I would live my life no differently. In my opinion, I don't think that it would make much difference as far as morals go. God has nothing to do with a person's morals.

No, I think people should live morally anyway. I live a good life because it make me feel good to be a good person. I am raising my kids to be good people also, it's just right. If we lived in a world where no one lived good I definitely wouldn't want to live in this world, I'd be afraid to leave my yard, my house for fear of what someone would do.

No, I have always been an atheist, but I conduct myself in a way that would be considered moral by most Christians. I do it because it is the correct way to behave in a civilized society, not because I am scared of the consequences.

No, I don't think I would change anything. I would probably feel somewhat empty and disappointed though. I mean....even if there was no God, it's still right to lead a moral life don't you think?
