Not necessarily! Lying is lying, but not telling somebody something would only be considered the same if someone asked you a direct question and you withhold the full and truthful answer! If you don't volunteer info to spare someone's feelings etc., then I would consider it to be considerate. I'm usually very honest and straightforward, so sometimes I have to hold back a bit as not everyone can handle too much truth and reality! In the case of gossip or hearsay, not telling anyone is considered a good quality also.

no, it's not the same as lying. Lying is when you twist someone's word, you didn't tell the truth, and obviously you should feel guilt. But not telling someone is way different. You're preventing someone knowing something, and you didn't say anything to hold the title, "liar."

Depends on what you're talking about.
If you are not telling a secret, that is not lying. But if you did something wrong, and you're not telling the truth, that is lying.

Depends, let me tell you why... If someone asks you straight out, "hey do you know (fill in blanks)" And you do, but you say no. Than your lying, not just keeping it from them. If they never ask, then theres no reason to lie or to talk about it.

No, it's only lying when you say something that is not the truth.

well if you leave a few details out thats not lying.......but if you say to your hubby "oh i went out to lunch with a co-worker and nothing happend i swear we just came right back to work as soon as lunch was over and all we talked about was just job related" ........but in reality all you did at lunch was f**kim. then yes that is lying.

If it's something that you know the other person would want to know or something you know you should tell them, withholding the truth is lying.
