I dont live with my parents, i moved out at 16 due to personal reasons, i am not dependant on them, i surpport myself financially and make my own choices, does this still count? AND also id like to note that alot of peoples answer r really good, others r jus plain rude and theres no need to insult me, it's a simple question, thanks to the nice people.

Your parents can legally make all decisions on behalf of you until you are 18 years old. This is their right as much as their duty to look after your well being.

Having said that, they could continue to practice their rights even after you are 18 years old if you can't be financially independent after you turn 18. If you are using their money, they should have the final say.

Best luck to you!

I don't know why people are on your case about this but like someone said the airlines will not stop you at the airport because you are a minor traveling alone. All you need is your passport and a ticket. But why not travel with your parents so you don't have to deal with this kind of problem... Have fun in Australia.

Yes.
U have to be 18.
They may stop till u are 17 yrs and 364 days... (365 days in case u are unlucky or lucky).
But they might try to stop u a lot longer than that.

If you moved out and you support yourself, why haven't you applied to be legally emancipated so this isn't an issue?

Rather than spending your money to go to Australia, may I suggest instead that you invest in your education?

Yes, legally you're a minor until you turn 18. Glad that you're holding your own right now...it's hard to do by yourself. It doesn't seem fair, all things considered, but you just can't go now. Sorry!
