Okay..I had blonde highlights. Eventually all of my hair started looking blonde, so I decided to do a "DIY dye job" and I chose Nice 'N Easy # 112- Natural Dark Auburn. It looked really good the first few times---now my roots are red and the rest is starting to look dark brown. I want a change--yesterday I purchased LOreal Feria- #76- Copper something. (Basically Bree VanDeCamp Red)

I am by no means educated about how hair coloring works--so I'm hoping you guys can help. Will the Copper color even show up over my dark color?? I'm wanting it to lighten up the color a LOT..so I'm hoping this will work (I've never used Feria before)

One more tid bit-- should I just go to a professional and have it lightened and then have a red color put on over it?? Also...can you buy a professional hair dye from a beauty supply store and take it to your hair dresser so that you can touch it up yourself at home when it starts to grow out or would this be considered rood??

Thanks!!! :)

Is the Nice & Easy you used a perminate, or semi-perminate? That makes a difference on it fading quickly.

If your hair is darker you can still use the Feria, it will just come out a darker shade of red.

Don't over dye your hair... no more than once every three months at the MAX. I suggest waiting even longer between dying... only because over dying will only make your hair look very dried out eventually.

Loreal Hair Colors have a strong dye to them and I have had the unpleasant experience of my hair being dyed darker. I used a med golden brown and it came out almost black(my hair has some auburn in it). If you are not sure what color you want, you may want to try a temporary hair color like Clairol Natural Instincts. They have some really nice auburn shades and if you hate it, it only lasts 28 shampoos(less if you use a clarifying shampoo). If you find one you do like, then you can call the company and ask them what the permanent equivalent is. You can always call the hair color companies if you have any questions before you dye your hair. They are very helpful in making this an easier decision to make.

i use feria and its real good but it'll probaly end up looking really red the first few days then it dies down a lil but still maintains its color.i bought and auburn color when i put it on first time it looked really red and i was like OMG! but then it went slightly darker but it maintains it color still.so i say go lighter like pick a lighter red it will look darker the first time ut itll dye down.if u dont like it though keep it for at leat a week b4 changeing to a new color, feria is REALLY strong and u risk damageing u rhair if u re-dye to fast.hope this is helpfull!!

if you have blonde hair that will naturally get bleached by the actual sun in the summer. There has been this guy in my class who also had golden blonde hair that had been a medium brown near the bottom part. When he came back to university after summer vacation, it was almost platinum blonde!
