People that have gastric bypass surgery have really loose skin especially the arms. Other than plastic surgery, how can you prevent this or improve it?

I have often wondered this myself..other than surgery, I would try astringent herbs (like oak galls (excellent source) /witch hazel, etc. )and foods (like apples) affecting elasticity of the skin.
Cleavers are said to tighten skin.. (cleavers are the green herbs that stick to you when walking in the woods).. Apply a tea or tincture several times a day. Here is what they look like.

Cucumber juice is also said to tighten skin.

Also anti-aging supplements/herbs/foods as a young person has more elasticity when losing weight.

Other than that, I don't know...these are my own theories from studying herbs many years.

It honestly depends on your type of skin and body. In my case I already lost 100 lbs and I have not such problem... my doctor told me that if you have lost and gained a lot of weight over the years, your skin begins to wear out and to loose flexibility... it is a very personal thing....

BTW, if you go to the point where you will have the skin hanging effect, the only solution is surgery. Sorry to say, do not believe those magic creams, etc...

Unfortunately surgery is the only real option for people who lose A LOT of weight. You can do weight training to help to tone the area but unless you are quite young, you may have to resort to surgery.

You can't. Most people who go through that surgery end up having the excess skin surgically removed as well. It's somewhat of a health hazard if you don't, because it can foster the growth of bacteria and even fungus in the folds of skin.

i changed into fifty 3 after I misplaced 50 lbs. over six months on weight watchers. i exercised plenty. i went from 230 lbs, all the way down to 179. no loose epidermis. slightly below my chin. my son teased me about it. if epidermis sags for any reason; in reality surgical treatment can acceptable it. baggy muscular tissues must be toned. epidermis won't be able to.

It depends on how old you are. You skin will shrink back some, but the older you are the longer it takes and the less it will. Then you can have some of it "cut out".
