I was raised Catholic and this is something I do not agree with. You can marry again in the Catholic Church, only if your first marriage is annulled and you and your new fiance go though extensive counseling (from a priest, what does he know about making a marriage work).
My father was married and had a child before he met my mother. They were not married in the Catholic Church because he would not have his first marriage annulled, because this would have essentially left my half-brother a "basterd". They were married by a Baptist preacher in my Dad's living room over 30 years ago.

The Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorces.
"Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Mark 10:9)
Therefore at this time you cannot remarry in the Catholic Church. However there may be hope of a declaration of nullity.
The term "annulment" is a misnomer because the Church does not undo or erase a marriage bond.
Rather the Church issues a declaration of nullity when it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present.
Then the parties are free to marry for the first time.
Approach the appropriate person your in your parish who has been trained in the process. If you encounter difficulties, you may go directly to the diocese.
Be prayerful, honest and patient. It takes a while.
I cannot speak for non-denominational churches.
With love in Christ.

It's politics to get remarried in a catholic church after a divorce. The catholic do NOT reckognize divorce. It is death do you part . Now days for a fee, (anywhere from $250 - $1000) a priest can anull your first marriage, like it never happened in a catholic church and you then could be married in a catholic church. If this is your husbands 1st marriage and he is a member of that catholic church, i believe you can still be married in that church, without an anullment. Catholics are a bunch of old school, stick in the mud...Welcome to the 21 century!

The Catholic church may be the only one that you won't be considered "fit" to marry in following a legal divorce. At least not until you go through the process so many other answers have described.
95% of ministers outside the Catholic faith will be happy to celebrate your union with you if you are divorced. Some of them might not marry you in their church if you are not a member, but you'll need to do the legwork to find out which churches in your area are "open" and which are "closed" to non-members.
Regardless, there's always the Cathedral of Nature. Being married outdoors in the glorious creation of the creator is open to anyone. Who says God only shows up at weddings in churches?
Good luck on your search for the perfect wedding spot!

Unless your first Catholic marriage was annulled, you will not be able to marry in a Catholic Church again. God's Law transcends all earthly law, so the mere legal proceeding known as "divorce" is not binding in God's eyes - in most cases.
As far as getting married in non-Catholic Churches, that would all depend on the denomination's rules.

You cannot get remarried in the Catholic Church unless the church officially declared your first wedding to be annulled. This can still be done, even if quite some time has passed since the divorce.

You can only be married in a catholic if the catholic church will also divorce you. If not, you cannot and will have to get married in another denomination.

No, of course you cannot get married in a Catholic church. I'm guessing some other churches are okay with marrying divorced people, you'll need to check in your area. Check with the minister or pastor of the church you are currently attending!

I don't know what the rules are in a non-denominational church....but, if you want to get remarried in a Catholic church you have to get the other marriage annulled first.
