just curious on how people view these things... so I'm asking, what are the beliefs you hold, and do you agree with them being a good thing.

that is, if you belive in an eternal hell, do you feel that this is a righteous, and just system?

if you had to vote for what religious system was how things were, and it not effect your afterlife-staus as you now know it, but if you were there before anything, and god asked your opinion on which is best, would you vote for the one you currently belive in?

I have trouble fathoming why people would belive in a system they don't like, and "Fire insurance" faith is a silly and disgusting idea.

Details: why do I say its a system? because in a way of looking at it, even atheism's "nothing happens, your simply dead, and you rot in the ground" is a "system" of sorts.

and yes, this is *primarily* targeted to christians, but not 100%, the fire insurance reference is more an easy way of saying "belief in what you belive in because your afraid of what your belief says will happen if you don't belive" logic. (if you don't belive in hell theres no way to be afraid of it... thus no point in worrying about it)

and by system for those who do belive in something complex, this is referring to it as a system, in the sense that its a methodical design of "if x then y" for each situation.

"if you belive in jesus then... , and if you don't then... " is a system. why its the system, or what your place in that system is, is irrelevant to the question.

Well, I made a pretty good mess of my life. I am glad God did not ask my opinion on the system for the universe because we would all be screwed for eternity.

I can not say I agree with the way God has set things up to run.

I believe as I grow in relationship with God, I will understand better why things are the way they are.

Most of my screw up could have been avoided if I believed in God and followed Gods scriptural and personal guidance through the first 40 years of my life.

My life now is very different than I could have ever imangined and has more than it's share of struggles but I am happy, at peace and value myself and my work/ministry.

God's will is life and life in abundance. Abundant life is a mix of events. Struggles help us grow, joys give us rest. Life is ever changing, exciting and fun.

God made a balanced universe, good & bad, heaven and hell, life and death. In each case we have the choice of what we wish to experience. While in human form God does all God can to direct us without interfering with our freedom to choose. God even allows us to change our minds and choose differently. But our human form is subject to deteriation and destruction by the choices of others and by natural and coincidenial forces. When this end to the human form comes we are left standing before God with our current choices in hand. I do not believe God spends time looking at our past but focuses on who we were at the moment of our earthly death. Scripture is clear that God wants no one to end up outside of God's eternal pressence but it is up to us to choose. For God to be just and fair at that point God can't give you a second chance but not me so what we stand in front of God with in current choices determines heaven(in the pressence of God) or Hell (out side of God's pressence).

The way I understand it, there is really only one choice that makes the determination of heaven or hell all of the rest just act as confirmation/proof that the one choice is truly how you feel. The choice is to seek, follow and be a friend of God's or to deny God. It kinda makes sense that if you die denying God that God is going to deny you. Especially since you had a lifetime of God seeking you, giving you gifts and trying to get your attention.

Ultimately, I know how spoiled and bratty I get when I get my own way all the time. I suspect that if all humanity knew they would go to heaven regardless or have eternal chances to get things right we would be repugnant monsters.

This question seems to be primarily directed at Christians given the "fire insurance" reference.

Personally, I LOVE my belief system! It's polytheistic, all encompassing and highly inclusive. There is no heaven or hell only cause and effect. What more could anyone ask for?

I chose my religion - so yes I like it -- yes I agree with it -- it is right for me. As for as being there from the beginning and having a say in anything then I would have told God that his science experiment in the Garden of Eden was not a good one to have.

Is it possible that when people die (if they lived an unrightous life) their wretched souls will be condemned to a firey hell, where hellish screams and ghoullish freaks will torment their soul for all of eternity? Also, will the devil dance around in his red leotard while mocking their agony and laugh as they writhe in pain?

Well im apostolic, I love this faith, because i believe its the only faith spoke of in Ephesians 4:5, one Lord, one Faith, one baptism. its a way of Holiness, and i would not trade it for anything in the world, and i would die for it, I believe in the baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the Holyghost to be saved, you may claim to be a christian but that doesnt mean your saved.
