Explaining how she feels to him would be respecting him. If she continues on her current path, she's lieing to him.
In the end, it's better to be honest now, than wait for things to worsen.
I've always found that being honest and respectful can take some of the pain away, however she's still gonna hurt him. No way around it.

Hes young he will be OK we all have heart ache in our lives no one can stop it from happening. Just be there for him if he needs someone to talk to. Tell her to do it now before he grows more attached to her.
