Some degree of nervousness does tend to be natural when encountering large groups of people or new people. Each individual has their own personality characteristics that reflect that kind of anxiety to either a greater or lesser degree.

However, if the nervousness and anxiety that you experience is causing you to alter your life and limit your experiences, then it is a problem that should be addressed now, before it grows.

I would recommend that you keep a journal and keep a detailed log of everything surrounding an expisode of anxiety. Make a note of your sleeping patterns, your eating patterns, including types and amounts of food. Also include daily activity patterns. Show what you were doing, who you were with, and how you were doing it. Document what was happening before, during, and after the event. Write out the internal, self-talk messages, your brain was enterntaining.

Once you've done that, you will begin to see the commonalities between the periods of anxiety. Certain foods can increase one's agitation and nervous system. Not enough restful sleep, with multiple disruptions in the night can increase anxiety levels. Negative self-talk, often as a result of early childhood experiences, can reinforce nervous behaviors and increase anxiety levels as well.

What to do about it:
1) Remember, everyone tends to be nervous around other people, some just aren't as nervous as others and a lot of us hide it real well, even from ourselves.
2) Meditation and relaxation exercises prior to facing a circumstance where you may experience the anxiety.
3) Aerobic exercise and resistance training - gives your body an opportunity to work of the adrenaline and other body chemicals produced when encountering a stressful circumstance.
4) Choose to relax and accept what's happening. Once you do that, it's generally easier to navigate the rest.

I used to get very nervous around people too when I was younger. I don't know if it is a disease or not, but I feel better now that I don't drink any caffeine.

It's certainly not natural, nerves can summon up all kinds of disease's.
To calm yourself, find time once a day to do some SLOW deep breathing, be quiet and think kind and good thoughts.

IT'S CALLED SOCIAL ANXIETY. ABOUT 2 IN 5 PEOPLE HAVE IT TO SOME DEGREE OR OTHER.

BEST BET, QUIT BEING SELF-ABSORBED AND FOCUS ON OTHER PEOPLE. DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOURSLEF BEING NCOMFORTABLE, GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO PUT OTHERS AT EASE. SMILE AT PEOPLE. COMPLMENT PEOPLE. ASK PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR THOUGHTS ON THINGS.....MAKE IT ABOUT THEM, NOT YOU.
