It is not the complexity by itself, it is the presence of information.
The canonical example is the bank of monkeys working at typewriter trying to type Shakespeare. Now any random string of (say) 10000 characters in extremely unlikely (26^10000, assuming all lowercase only letters).
However if it was gibberish, no one would conclude that it must have been written by someone intelligent. However, when there is understandable English text, as in Shakespeare, one recognizes that it was written by a person, and in the case of Shakespear, an extraordinary person.
The same logic is applied to the universe and how it is finely tuned. A small change here, an small one there, and life as we know it would not exist. I have heard that an absolutely microscopic change in the expansion rate of the universe at the Big Bang would have been catastrophic. Too fast and matter is flung all over, too slow and everything collapses again.
As another example, the information in one strand of DNA would fill many many volumes of text. (I forgot the number).
One final example. Suppose you were playing cards with a friend, and most of time you had a good hand, he had a better one. You would begin to suspect something. If I were going to cheat at poker, I would NOT give myself the royal flush and my opponents nothing. I would give myself four 2's and my opponent a full house. (Say I have 22, He has AA- flop A22.) No way he doesn't pay me off.... If thay happened six or seven times, each time when I was dealing, he would become suspicious.
To summarize, the complexity alone is not sufficient evidence of intelligent design, but the information. There are many "coincidences" that Christians see God's fingerprints in.

Its utterly amazing how believers refuse to accept any scientific explanation of the creation of the universe, yet of course blindly accept the existence of a god who can create the same universe out of nothing. Where did god appear from with his magic powers to create a universe, oh thats right he was just always there or its beyond our comprehension. If science doesn't have the exact perfect explanation of absolutely everything then that proves god exists! It's science that has proved the complexity of our universe and religion is trying to readjust its position. If the big bang theory was proved beyond doubt religion would just say ' ah yes but god pushed the button that started it, look it says in our holy book god created the universe, theres the proof.'

13 billion years since the big bang, and human came at about 4.5 billion years since the creation of earth. There must be a higher consciousness than the human race out there somewhere.
To clarify my answer, I do not adopt to the ID theory where "God" created everything, rather I believe that a being with a consciousness of very higher order exists by reason of induction -- because it has happened with less time on earth as we are all conscious beings. I believe the emergence of lives and consciousness are natural events in the universe.

I think the complexity of the Universe can equally be used to disprove the existence of a god: think how difficult it would be to design the Universe from a blank piece of paper. And actually, I don't believe the laws governing the Universe are necessarily complex, it's just that currently we don't understand the physics of it all at its most fundemental level.

I think it's to do with the fact of doing something always requires someone to do something. For example a programmer who creates applications MUST create the application for it to be developed.
With our lives everything we do we need to create - right? So how did the universe get here? It must have been created thinking logically. The fact that there is a perfect eco-system on this planet (being damaged by humans). Those things cannot be a fluke - It's far too complicated for it to be so.

I think it is an excellent example of God's love for creation because if there is a watch, there has to be a watchmaker, right? The heavens(space) did not magically create itself, impossible. There has to have been a driving force somewhere. I know it is hard to fathom, believe me, but most people believe in a maker. I know this may sound like a contradiction but, I am so logical that I do not believe in "sudden appearances". I believe in processes, artwork, publishing for the world to see. A known existence. Hope this helped a little.

This probably began as taking advantage of the unknown - no one can argue fully. After myths are established they become more and more elaborate and detailed, a religion I think is the 'advanced' state of this condition. The assertions made such as what you describe, are least argued with by children and have the effect intended.

Because many of them don't know the truth so they turn to faith. But then again how do you know it dosen't indicate gods prescence? Was our universe just a freak accident? You have to admire people who have blind faith in something like that.

Because all the intricacies and complexities of the universe couldn't possibly have happened, and been sustained this long, simply by accident.
