To begin with troops from the African Union will be a positive step. But to stabilize a peace in that region. Next the radical Muslim government needs to be taken out of power. The media won't tell you the government is a Radical Muslim regime but just do research for yourself. They are afraid this will hurt the image of Islam. Call it for what it is and open your frickin eyes!!! Islam is a huge road block to peace throughout this world.
"Up to two million people have fled their homes and tens of thousands of people have been killed. Pro-government Arab militias are accused of carrying out a campaign of ethnic cleansing against non-Arab groups in the region."

Sorry, the situation is so bad that only the invasion and occupation of it would work... that old chestnut "peace comes from the barrel of a gun" is correct in this instance.
The French have been trying to stay out of this mess for years knowing that full involvement , alone and unsupported (NO ONE in their right mind would want a piece of that nightmare), would make Vietnam look like a walk in the park.
The solution is thus beyond our reach... the African states cant afford to send troops of their own to end the carnage, America see no large oil reserves to exploit (precluding their involvement) and the Country is so poor that no one else See's a buck in it for them even if they did go in...
Make you wonder if selfless moral conviction even exists anymore... particularly as Chad, Somalia, Congo, Sierra Leon and about a dozen others are equally screwed up... the European powers should never have left them. WE knew this would happen (we being Britain) but the rest of the world knew better (meaning the USA) and said that empire was a bad thing....
Net result ... we have not had a single year of peace on earth since 1945.
THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF LIVING IN PEACE WITH EACH OTHER ... TELL ME I AM WRONG, GO ON, I DARE YOU...

The people of Sudan have a rabid dog in their midst. Rabid dogs have visited Armenia, Cambodia, Rwanda, Ukraine, and Germany in the last century. In each case the rabid dog is the child of an evil philosophy. Rabid dogs cannot be tamed; they must be put down along with the evil philosophy that spawned them. Only after the rabid dog is put down will the suffering and violence end.

The U.N. had their chance and blew it. To spare more lives, the only thing to do is send in troops from other countries. The U.S. can't send men due to the mess in Iraq and our ruined reputation. Anan at the U.N. stated he will not call for troops because the current government has not invited them. Well, hell, it's the current government killing all these innocent people. It's another Ruwanda, but worse.

Pull out of Iraq and start doing something for the world that doesn't have greed as the basis of the action.
Oh, this is a capitalistic nation, never mind.

This problem is right up the United Nation's alley, something that it is equipped to handle and a reason it was created. So the answer to your question is, absolutely nothing!

ERADICATE Muslim rule, relocate population to more productive regions in the nation where agrarian and labor intensive work is available and set up a UN mandate to rule and re-establish infrastructure. When they can't manage themselves, the situations still need to be managed.

I think we should send in some teams to see if they have oil first...if it comes back positive then we should reach out a helping hand..lol..j/k...charity starts at home, so until we fix the problems on our doorstep, we should keep our noses out of the fray, because you can't help people that won't help themselves!!!
