Consider this statement.

¨There are more stars in the Universe than grains of sand on all the beaches of earth.¨

Read that again. Try to visualise it. This isn’t just a ‘theory’ this is simple fact.

So how many stars are there? Well we know there are at least 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (yep 70,000 million million million). ...and that’s just the ones we can see with modern telescopes.
Take a look at this picture... (it's big)

...and that’s just one galaxy.

Christians believe that all of this was created by some sort of conscious thinking being. It describes him doing it here...

1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

I just love that last bit. In the ‘grand scheme of things’ human beings are totally insignificant. The idea that we are the centre of the universe just proves our infinite EGO!

LARRY S – Thanks for proving my previous point about religion being a mental illness. I loved the last bit ¨ I don't want be too dogmatic about this.¨ I would hate to see you when you are being dogmatic :)

Perhaps it proves the extent of God's love for us. Perhaps there are other things in the universe He is tending to other than us. There is more in this universe than is dreamt of in your philosophy.

The universe is infinitely big, and is constantly expanding. Therefore, there is no limit to the size of the universe. At least, not one that we can visualize or conceptualize without our heads imploding.

Somebody asked of me, if a planet was found millions and millions of light years away, where does that put God and our belief. The answer is in the Bible which says "God created all worlds".

We don't even know where the center of the universe is, let alone whether we're in it.

The Bible was written by people who thought the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around it.

The universe is infinite.

I can't believe that religous people don't think there's life on other planets either.

But monkey see monkey do!

"Space," the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy says, "is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindboggingly big it is. I mean you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space."

A lot bigger than we will ever know. We see only one whole solar system and part of a second. Only God knows how big it really is.
