If you are experiencing stomach flu like symptoms, i.e. vomitting or have to go to the bathroom constantly, what are some good foods to eat that won't be so hard on your stomach?

Also, other than drinking lots of fluids, what is good to do when you're sick like this?

Oh, and what are some foods that are good to avoid?

Thanks everyone. :) I was asking this for the guy I'm dating. He had to postpone our date for this evening cause he got sick. He's just been eating crackers. I couldn't think of what I ate when I had stomach flu, and I thought you could help. :)

Stick to fluids like water or fruit juice.... go easy on what you eat, try something like plain cereal or rice pudding (nothing fancy)....... I sometimes find a supply of mints can help a little (providing they don't have a warning on the packet about having too many causing a laxative effective).

To avoid, I'd say the obvious ones would probably be super spicy things like Chilli or curry dishes.

When my children were little their doctor recommended the BRAT diet. If you can keep a little warm Coke down (starting with 1 T. every 15 minutes for an hour and increasing to 3 T. at a time) then you start with Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. I always had good luck with this.

Follow the BRAT diet until your stomach starts to feel better, and then go for really bland foods... BRAT stands for Banana Rice (plain) Applesauce Toast (dry). My mom used to give me rice crispies and warm 7-up when my tummy hurt, and when I was having morning sickness, I ate soda crackers (saltines) and 7-up. My fav. now is tapioca or rice pudding, but not when I'm throwing up. Water is always recommended... it's important to stay hydrated.

Always start with saltine crackers and Sprite. If you can keep that down for a few hours, move onto things like unbuttered toast and a scrambled egg. Avoid anything heavy or greasy.

If you're vomiting then I don't think you should eat.But when You can keep something down try saltine crackers and clear soup. I've also heard mint flavored gum can settle a sour stomach.

Anything bland like crackers or soup/broth will be easier on your stomach. Any other foods will be harsher and cause more upset.
