If it itches it could be dandruff and I recommend you use Head and Shoulders. Or, it happens too from the buil up of hair gel or too much hair spray. For this, you could use a claryfing shampoo once or twice a week.

Just a dry scalp that causes dandruff (aka the white flakes) Use a shampoo designed for dandruff...and a conditioner too.

if you are getting flakes from your scalp then it is dry and you have dandruff- if you have flakes in your hair where you put product or all in one area- this is product build up. You need to use a clarifying shampoo like nutregina t-gel. I was a teen in the 80's and suffered from auqanet hairspray build up! Good Luck!

Flakes in your hair are a sign of dandruff. You may have a very oily or dry scalp, either way you must deal w/ this immediately because it is not attractive and many people associate it w/ poor hygiene. I suggest Dandarest by Nexxus, (JC Penney salon-very effective and very mild).

It is either dandruff from not washing out your shampoo or conditioner good enough or it's from a dry scalp.

Dry scalp? Try a shampoo with more moisturizer in it.
Pantene works great for me. If that doesn't work, then try Head & Shoulders.
