You dint that was an old scam ran by immigrants(mostly illegal) who's visa was about to expire so marry a local and become a citizen it doesn't work that way I'm not sure what the policy is now but I'm gonna guess your visa is or will expire soon. You may be deported or detained i would contact INS and find out your status .

You must get a change of status from immigration form costs about 200 bucks. That will take about 6/9 months to process You will not be able to work untill it goes through. You must prove that you did not go to the states with the intention of getting married. The normal way is to get a fiance visa from your own country and then go to US an get married
When you fill out the form you must submit proof that you knew the person before eg phone bills photos etc
When the change of status is granted then you get a temporary social security no and temp work visa
that lasts for two years which you must apply again to permanently change your status after that you get a ten year visa which time you just apply for US Citizenship
I went through it and its all very hard my marriage didnt last and i couldnt stand the place so i came back HOME TO LANDAN
Good Luck

When you marry a U.S. Citizen, you automatically get a Green Card, which entitles you to work., I think you get a J.l Visa. Unless the immigration have reason to think the marraige was fraudulent, i.e just for you to gain entry. You got a tough ride on your hands. I have been through that one, and my marraige was for love. You just get a bloody job, and stay. Why do you want to be in the rottenest country in the world anyway.

Is an agency trying to boot you out of the country? If so all you have to do is show them your marriage certificate and they should not bother you any more.
