I'm starting to think about ideas for Christmas decor. I love the country/rustic type of Christmas decor. I think this year I am going to make a popcorn strand for the tree. Anyone have any other ideas that are quite easy that relate to this theme? Even simple ideas are welcome! Thanks!

a very country looking cotton plaid in dark greens, reds and blues keeps coming to mind. It would look well on your tree in the form of simple bows made from fabric strips cut with a pinking shears, and centered with a little spray of cranberries. Real gingerbread men as ornaments. miniature bushel baskets you have aged by tea dying or dry brushing with an antiquing gel can be suspended from the plaid bows and filled with mini pine cones. You could also make some miniature stocking ornaments from the plaid fabric.by cutting them out with pinking shears and leaving the seam allowance on the outside(less work and more charm) and stuffing them for dimension. Tiny dark red and green knitted mittens can sometimes be found in craft stores this time of year and make cute additions to the theme of the tree. Make a cranberry strand to accompany the popcorn strand. Have a Merry Country Christmas!

Pine cone wreaths are nice. You can buy them pre-made, or you can do it yourself by going to your local crafts store and get a styrofoam ring, some wire and the pine cones (from your backyard if that's possible). Use the wire to secure the pine cones around the ring. For a splash of Christmas color, glue to it some red berries, holly and red plaid ribbon/bows.

If you are starting from scratch....

Buy some ribbon from a craft store in a single color or a pattern and make simple bows and attach to the tree with florist wire (also from a craft store).

From a home depot or lowes or a tile store....choose small tiles in a pattern fitting your theme and hot glue ribbon on the reverse side to hang from your tree.

Use small sized picture frames with pictures of your friends and family and pets...place on or hang from branches.

Collect twigs from your yard, tie them up with ribbon in small bunches. You can do the same thing with cinnamin sticks.

Buy inexpensive clear glass balls....and fill partially with redbeans, white beans, jelly beans, or what ever else you can come up with.

i collect pinecones and spray some of them with artificial snow to set around the house, put glitter on some, or paint them silver or gold and put them in the branches of my tree.

I have 3 trees. Regular tree, an angel tree and a snowflake tree.

One thing my family always makes is oranges with cloves stuck in them and then we set them in a bowl and leave them out as potpourri. They smell very nice and look really neat.

Ginger man ornaments! We make them ever year. Roll out, cut, make sure to punch hole on top, bake, and string ribbin to hang.
