I know what you are feeling.
My bit of advise is to remember that tooth pain never gets better on it's own. It only gets worse.
Make sure you keep your mouth super clean. Rinse with Listerine every time you can for no less than three minutes at a time.
Keep ibuprofen as much as you can. Check with your dentist to see if you can take up to 800 mg @ one time.
Also, you might want to run to walmart and get some ambisol to keep on the tooth. They also have an item that are like breath strips, but it is for tooth pain. They dissolve where ever you put them.
If you hurting bad enough, call your dentist and see if you can get in to see him sooner than later. Crying on the phone helps. lol
But, if he can't see you, most dentist will call in a pain killer for you.
Good luck!

They usually don't put your to sleep for a tooth extraction. you will just have a needle (which actually doesn't hurt at all) to numb the area, and you will honestly not feel a thing. for pain relief at the moment, go to the chemist and ask, if you need a prescription of some sort (for stronger pain relief) explain to your doctor and they should give you a prescription. you wont feel any pain for at least a couple of hours after the removal, because you will still be numb. i advise to take the pain relief about an hour to 2 hours after the tooth removal. or when you can start to feel some pain (mild) in your gum. hope that helped :)

Keep in touch with your dentist. I have found that Ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin works best with tooth ache pain. However, be sure to check with your doctor to make sure you are not allergic to that medication before using it. If you are not allergic you can take (with your doctors permission) up to 800mg (that's 4 200mg tablets) every 6-8 hrs. It may also be helpful to rinse with warm saltwater several times a day to help keep the area clean and try to avoid an infecion or abcess. If the pain gets really bad then don't feel shy about asking your dentist to call you in a stronger pain relief option such as Tylonol w/codiene or vicodin to your local pharmacy for you to use until you can make it into the Doctor. There's no reason for you to be in pain especially when you have a doctor who knows that there is a specific legitimate problem and you have an upcoming appointment to have it fixed. Good Luck.

hi there-
i had wisdom tooth pain for a few years... didnt want to do anyhting about it because i HATE dentists..
anyway, for a LONG time, i used a wet gel called "Ambisol"... i dont know if that's the correct spelling, but you might want to try it.. It comes in a little vial and you just rub it on your teeth. It will give that numbing feeling so you dont have to feel the pain.. trust me, i was curled up into a ball for weeks and weeks (off and on of course) in massive amounts of pain.. I tried Ambisol, and it worked! it doesn't last very long, but it lasted long enough for me to forget about it for a little while! :)
also, if you can, get some Vicodin... and lots of it! that will DEFINITELY help. Only take Vicodin if the pain is there though... too many people now-a-days are getting addicted to pain pills..
be careful and good luck with your tooth! :)

Be extremly careful what you eat for the next 2 weeks. Anything warm or cold. Anything that touches that tooth will hurt.
Call your Dr see what you can get for pain meds. Even if the best they can do is a sleep med it's better than being in pain.
Or try one of those meds, and I can't think of the brand name now, that they give babies when they are cutting teeth. It is supposed to numb the area.
Sorry my brain is out to lunch and I can't think of the brand name. Ask the pharmacist.
Whatever you drink, drink from a straw. that will help any beverages from getting to that tooth.

DRUGS!!! LOTS OF DRUGS!!! Seriously the best thing you can do is ask your dentist for a prescription for tylenol 3 w/codeine and swish your mouth w/ listerine or peroxide (i know it sounds gross but trust me it works). I had wisdom tooth apin so bad once I OD on pain killers and was trying to drive to Walgreens to pick up another prescription at like 3 in the morning and I passed out on the horn in my car just as I was leaving and woke up 2 hours later in the middle of a cat scan naked in a hospital gown, all my facial piercings removed and all my family staring at me. I still don't completely remember what happen that night. Get that tooth taken care of ASAP!!!

it should be pulled out... After all, wisdom tooth doesn't really have any use... If you have other teeth, the wisdom tooth isn't really a problem... Then, always visit the dentist and take care of your teeth... (ee,)

Lots of Ibuprofin, and Oragel. I had the same problem not too months ago. It was decaying, and it hurt so bad, it got to a point where I couldn't eat. Nothing would really help it, except swabbing my gums in oragel every 15-30 mins. Nothing else you can do, really, but get it pulled.

You should call your dentist in order to report the pain. They may be able to fit you in sooner. Taking Tylenol if recommended by your dentist may help to alleviate some of the pain. You might also suck on ice or apply a cold pack to the outside of your mouth/jaw. Unfortunately, there is little to do about the problem other than mask the pain.

Crush an aspirin, add a drop or two of water, and using a q-tip to swirl it, make a paste. Then, take the q-tip and apply the paste to the area. It tastes nasty at first, but it does work.
