Crate train it.
Put your doggie into a crate (with food/water) and leave it there for most of the day. When you get back from work, take doggie right outside. Doggie will learn not to crap until, it is let outside by you.

U need a schedule; the age of the pup in Months, Plus One, = the number of hours they can wait MAX, during the day.
ex: if the pup is 11 weeks, that's 2 mos plus 1 = 3 hrs max between potty-trips.
U don''t mention the age of Ur pup; they Cannot Begin Housetraining before 3 mos, or 12 weeks: that's when they 1st develop sphincter muscles on bladder and bowel.
then thay have to learn 'how to Use those Muscles', so there's no instant-fix.
learning to hold a full bladder is a process that's pretty much up to U: the better U are at consistently supervising the pup, getting them out on-time, keeping them CRATED when U cannot supervise them, the faster it goes.
remember: if the puppy is not yet housebroken, and they pee or poop ANYwhere they should not, it's the fault of the supervising >> Human<<< , not the puppy!!
roll a newspaper, and smack the offending human smartly on the butt, saying 'bad human! very bad human!', until they promise never to do that again... Ever!

Crate training, definatley...but only for at night or when you're not home. Otherwise, the only real way is to take the dog out often and to watch it like a hawk. Even small puppies start to get the jist of the program after a week or so. Just don't punish the puppy for accidents...if you're watching him like you should, he won't have any. Just pick him up as he's squatting and bring him outside. Punishing him for accidents will only make him hide the accidents. I'd much rather find poopies right away than smell them for 3 months only to discover them behind my tv.

there is no easy way. I had two greyhound & blue heeler pups. They are 5 yrs old now. I took them outside 3 or 4 times a day. First thing in the morning after they ate & before bed at night. I tried papers on the floor in the bathroom but taking them outside was better for me. It took 2 wks to train but they will still have accidents. They are very good boys now & very well behaved most of the time.

The dog could very well be house broke and most dogs have accidents when they change homes.
1.Everytime you feed the dog put the dog outside to potty if you have a fence, walk the dog after meals if you don't.
2.Use a crate when the dog is left unattended.
3. Do not allow unrestricted access to food and water.
(Big mistake because dogs often GO after feeding or drinking)

Just be patient and be willing to work with him. Do not over scold him if goes inside. One of the best ways and easiest if you are at work all day, get a crate or dog carrier big enough for him, take him out and encourage him to potty before you leave walk with and get him to run around and he might even go poo. once you do that take and place him in his crate or carrier and leave him in there until you get home, right when you get home tkae him out and do the same thing, when you are there with him, try to notice his patterns and take him out accordingly. It may take awhile depending on the dog but that should get it taken care of!! Good luck!

make sure after every feeding or drinking or waking up you immediately take them outside.
What I usually do is they go to bed in a crate and when they wake up I take them outside. If within a few minutes of being outside they do not go potty bring them back into the crate.
Another few minutes take him out again and wait a few minutes if once again he does not pee or poop bring him back to the crate. keep doing this until he finally goes potty within a few minutes of being outside.
If you leave them outside until he or she goes potty they may start to realize that they get to stay outside as long as they until they potty. So they will purposely hold it to stay outside longer.
And buying a book from petsmart or something like that is very good as well. It'll not only teach you potty training, but other training things as well.
DO NOT TAKE THE DOG AND PUT HIS FACE IN THE POOP OR PEE. IF YOU DO NOT CATCH THEM IN THE ACT THEN NOTHING SHOULD BE DONE. Only if you catch them in the act of pottying in the house shuold tell them no and bring them outside. Dogs are a lot smarter than what ppl think.

All you have to do is buy a crate for it. It will learn not to poop or pee in their territory. If the puppy is young take it to pee every 2 or 3 hours. Have a schudule for the dog when its going to eat and then poops right after it eats. If it is under 6 months give your puppy 3 meals a day.

Crate train the dog if you are going to be away at work or school for long periods of time. It keeps the pet safe, and it keeps your home from not being destroyed by a bored or anxiety ridden pup.

Best housebreaking book ever is Housebreaking: Pure and Simple by Mark and Dru Katz, but here's the gist.
First Diet: Remember, what goes in must come out. The choice of dogfood and treats can definitely have an effect on how often your dog will need to go to the bathroom. Higher quality foods that are easier to digest and have higher concentrations of nutrients produce less waste because you need to feed less and the dog will digest more of it. Too many treats during the day can make your dog have to potty more often. Avoid excessive treats or use the dog's normal food.
Second: Keep control of your dog at all times. Get a crate. It should just be big enough for the dog to lay down, stand up and turn around in. He should be in the crate anytime he isn't being watched (when you are out of the house for even a minute, when you are sleeping, watching tv, cooking, reading, or ANYTHING that involves you taking your eyes off of him). Do not talk to him when he is in the crate or when you first take him out, or that will make him anxious. The crate should never be used for punishment and should always be associated with something good. Don't feed him just before putting him in the crate or allow him to have water while in the crate.
When he is NOT in the crate he should be on a leash attached to you. This way he can never be out of your sight or control to sneak around the corner and have an accident. When you see your puppy getting ready to go in the house, quickly snap the leash to get his attention (not to hurt him or punish him) and say in a calm firm tone "NO!". Then take him right outside to finish up. When he goes outside praise him like crazy and give him a TINY piece of a yummy treat. If you don't have the leash in your hand, you will have to run after the dog to make the correction and this will just teach him to run away from you. If you find an accident in the house, DO NOT punish your dog. It wasn't his fault you haven't taught him to potty outside and it isn't his fault you weren't there to make the correction. Just clean it up and use an enzyme cleaner and odor eliminator to get rid of the smell.
Take the dog out to potty after eating, after drinking a large amount, after waking up from sleeping, and then several times during the day. Wait patiently for him to potty outside THEN praise him and give him lots of love and attention. You want him to do his business as soon as you go out, not try to play and romp for 10 minutes before he does it. Sometimes you just can't wait that long!
Puppy pads and newspaper can be very confusing for dogs. They learn to potty in the house on the paper, then you have to reteach them to potty outside. They can become very anxious and frustrated using this method. Start by teaching him to eliminate only outside and you will have fewer setbacks.
