I have tried many things before. The last time I quit I was pregnant. I knew I had to quit for my baby. Now I don't have a baby inside, and I don't have the same state of mind. What do I do?

I think that the best way is cold turkey, but you have to be ready to quit any way that you choose to do it. If you're not ready, try anyways, but don't get hard on yourself if you start again. It's a serious addiction, and a hard one to kick! I have been a non-smoker now for a year and 9 months. I quit because I hated it more that I used to love it. I was ready, but I had tried many many times before.
The tip that saved me was that when I wanted to smoke, I'd wait 10 minutes and do something else. When the 10 minutes was up, I had either forgotten about it or talked myself out of it. And often those 10 minutes were back-to-back, especially at first. Remember how crappy you felt when you started smoking again after your baby was born. Remember how naucious you got, and how your head and your lungs hurt...
Good luck :)

I found it very easy to quit smoking I was doing it all the time!

Now I have stopped and haven't smoked for over ten years. The main difficulty is being with people that smoke and know that you want to quit, keep offering you one. Although you may not know it, but you could still be harming your child through smoking. If that is any kind of incentive to quit!

You really have to want to quit . keep thinking and telling your self it is a nasty habit. bad for you and expensive. in time you will feel it in your lungs . Don't ever say I am quitting because those who do usually don't. Don't make promises you cant keep. How ever you do quit . will be your most successful thing you have done in your life and the best you have done for your health.

Before my wife and I started dating, she smoked. On our first date she smoked. I told her I couldn't stand it. She quit the next day. I also told her that I wouldn't kiss her until she quits. That worked for her, two years later and she hasn't touched a cigarette.

Cold turkey. There is no weaning off of them. Cutting back does not work. It is no different that any other addiction. One minute, one hour, one day at a time. A true test of your will power but you can do it if you want to.

Think about the baby that now lives "outside" and what MORE damage you are doing now.
