I have moved to a 1930 terraced house with bay window in SW London. I am keen to know which are fireplaces common at the time. Please attach photos.. Is it the cast iron, the pinky beige or the slabbed tile art deco.
My house is a very standard 3 bedroom terrace in Sw20, ans is common in Morden too.

Unfortunately quite ugly peachy or cream or green tile was common on the 1930s, which is why many were ripped out later.
If you can find a great deco fireplace to put in it would be fab but not original

1930's fireplaces tended to be quite plain, with a very geometric design, plain tiles. Haven't got any pictures unfortunately.

I would imagine it would be cast iron, colours and tiles were only found in the upper frame of the market. Try a reclamation yard, they'll put you right.

Try to visit one of your neighbours to ascertain what type they have. Its surprising how helpful people are if you explain to them what you want to know.
