We are all sinners and we all fail to live up to the standards of God. That's not hypocritical, that's human nature. I agree with you, believe all of it or none of it. That being said, we fail, we stumble, we slip, no matter how hard we try. That is why Jesus Christ is made that much more important in my life. I need forgiven for sinning against Him. Every single day I do something wrong in His eyes. I have been forgiven already, so I repent and move on, doing my best to follow His guidance and laws and not repeat the same error.

No one is perfect. If someone is on a diet, but has a hard day, eats a piece of chocolate or something - Are they lying about being on a diet...NO! They just messed up. They will get back on task and try to do better the next day. Why would religion be any different? I am a Christian and try my best to live in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. But I am not successful every day, as I am only human. I don't feel that this makes me a hypocrite.
Even when I fail, I still believe in living for God and believe in His word. My beliefs, values and morals don't change, whether or not I am succeeding or failing, so therefore I am still a believer in God and that doesn't change.

IF this is being a hypocrite then maybe we should just change the word to HUMAN.

All have sinned and fall short to the Glory of God!

How is only believing certain parts of the bible an act of hypocrisy? Some people choose to discard the parts that conflict with what the rest of it says and dismiss the less likely parts as exaggeration and fiction.

This is why I think fundamentalist Christians-- the real ones, not the radicals who have been branded fundamentalist-- are the ones with the right idea. I mean, yeah, a lot of them have some radical opinions about homosexuality and stuff, but that's because it's forced into them by their worship leaders. The true nature of a fundamentalist is that they follow the fundamental values of a religion. With Christianity, there is only one: Love others as you love God and yourself.

I'm agnostic, and I'm a hypocrite...sometimes even in my religious beliefs :P

But at least I admit that everything I believe, don't believe, or am unsure about doesn't always make sense...its just what makes sense to me.

Faith is believing something that which we cannot prove
Ignorance is thinking your faith is based upon fact.

Many people are hypocritical regardless of what they believe in. Religion is a form of hypocrisy. But there are others, too.

As Esther correctly pointed out, we are all hypocrites, some more often and blatant than others, but we all share that trait.

I have noticed that people tend to use words such as hypocrite, evil, immoral, etc. to describe other people and rarely use those words to describe themselves.

Well, like I always say...

Don't let the hypocrites stand between you and the living God...at least they are in a place to get help.

Besides, who are we to judge?

Christianity was founded as a refuge, and an eventual cure for hypocrites.

And since God himself set is up that way, it must be good.

We are all born into evil and the expectation is to be reformed in our understanding and regenerate in our will with the Lord's help.
