A college degree still opens some doors. Education in general should challenge the mind, this is what helps keep us mentally sharp. Also when some slick salesperson starts using sickology on you it helps to be able to think logically. If you don't make an effort to really learn something but just fake your way thru then it's probably not worth much.

That's a loaded question!

Depends on what you're asking - public education or learning of any kind?

In my opinion, public schools have missed the mark by far for a very long time. They threw out some of the most important stuff - social, emotional and physical issues. Our public schools are not allowed to address social issues that directly affect the kids; they are not allowed to deal individually with emotional issues unless a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD is assigned; and, physical education or P.E. is a joke - most kids only have to "dress out" and then sit in the bleachers to avoid anything physical.

"Good for" - huh, let's see.....the exposure to the information they are provided - limited though it may be - is important as their own day to day lives may not provide that. Understanding the history of their country is important with the intent of helping to avoid past mistakes. Math is a socio-economic issue - without these skills one could not exist in this culture (unfortunately).....None of this has anything to do with making our children better people though, only more competitive.

Education, at my age, is good for the rest of my life. Near everything weighs on the year's report card. If you don't good grades, you won't get into a good high school, then no good college, then no good job, then no good house, etc. It can go on until we begin to talk about "no good funeral."

That's what education is good for. The rest of your LIFE.

Oh, I wonder?

Education is good for working the mind, allowing the people to use technology, proper speech, to lead the country, to share ideas and resources, to discover new cures for diseases, to go into space, to build airplanes and ships, etc.

Education is the foundation of our world!

Education is necessary for leading a normal life. What
can you do if you can't read, write, and speak intellectually? How are you going to support yourself? Who is going to hire an illiterate and stupid person?
