Long time ago I used Dragon's Naturally Speaking it was great at the time so i presume it still is. As I am now using Mac ( and mac has built in voice recognition), no need to use any third party software. I'd recomend you "Naturally Speaking" it takes some time to train the software but once you do it it goes smoothly.

Tried Via Voice several years ago; found it not at all satisfactory and gave up. Newer versions might be better, but I personally wouldn't bother.

You may want to try e-Speaking Voice and Speech Recognition software. It is based on Microsoft's Speech Engine (SAPI) which can be downloaded to XP and Win2000 systems free from Microsoft.

The e-Speaking program is a graphical front-end to the Speech Engine from Microsoft. Video demonstrations are at:

I have viavoice, It's okay. I haven't used it a lot, maybe it improves as you use it. It mistypes words quite a bit.
