It's a tough proceedure, and it might take more than one try but here is what you NEED to do (I used to work for TERMINIX). Call and schedule an appointment for a pest control company to come to your house for fleas(Terminix is the cheapest in my area). They need to spray your yard(more than the perimieter if possible), your house, and bomb the house(stuff you buy in the stores is not all that great). On the day you make this appointment, your pets MUST go to the groomer to be bathed and dipped or treated for flea protection. YOU will also need to try to give them a Capstar(it kills any fleas on them within 30 minutes). WASH all bedding(with detergent and flea shampoo mixed) that they lie on, and when the pest control person comes, make sure they even spray your couch cushions, or pull them out when the bombs are set off.

NOW...wait two hours BEFORE you return(WITHOUT the pets)...air out the house as they will tell you to do. YOU MUST VACUUM TWICE A DAY FOR 5 DAYS!!!! YOU MUST ALSO CHANGE THE VACUUM BAG AFTER EVERY TIME YOU VACUUM, any live, patially live, or flea eggs will be in the bag, and they must be disposed of as soon as you vacuum!!! If you have a bagless, dump it outside and wash it thoroughly, and spray it with over the counter flea spray and let it air dry.

AFTER you thoroughly vacuumed after the initial fumigation, and aired your home, then you can bring the pets back to clean bedding, and home. IF YOU SEE LIVE FLEAS after 7-10 days....you must repeat everything again!!!!

I had this happen actually when I worked for Terminix to my dogs and house...it took two fumagations and groomings, plus the bedding washings to get rid of them. I also sprinkled ADAMS carpet powder each time I vacuumed to help it more.

Make sure you keep Capstar handy in case, and get them on a VET PRESCRIBED Flea & Tick Control. We use Revolution because it also has a heart worm med in it as well. We have been flea free for over 4 yrs because of the extremem measures we took, and I still bathe them in flea and tick shampoos once a month, every month of the year. In Lower AL, it does not get cold enough to kill all of them off.

Good luck!!!

Get a flea spray from your vet or buy the type that kills the fleas & the eggs. You have to retreat every 2 weeks with some types, others every 4-6 days.Make sure you read the labels. Fleas hatch out quickly. Treat your dog's bedding & either the yard or house. Good luck.

How to Make a Natural Dog Flea Massage Oil

Aaah... relaxed! When the fleas are getting too much, you can give your dog a massage treat, as well as sending those fleas packing. And the great thing about this massage oil is that it is chemical-free, so it is environmentally-friendly and dog-friendly too.

Steps
Check the ingredients list below and go shopping. Health food stores are most likely your best source for the ingredients.
Place the sunflower oil into a glass or ceramic bowl (metallic bowls may react with some of the ingredients).
Add all the essential oils and blend well. It's that easy - now you have the massage oil.
Find a place in your home where your dog feels comfortable. Your dog will be a little greasy after the massage, so make sure you are happy that the area is adequately protected from possible marks or stains.
Commence the massage with Fido. Gently massage the oil mixture into your dog's coat, using your fingertips.
Make sure that you massage all around the dog, even under its legs, ears and tail, as you want to avoid fleas finding an "island of safety".
Make sure also that your dog is enjoying the experience. He should not be whining! Generally dogs love a massage - it is both extreme attention from their beloved owner and it is comforting.
At the end of the massage, your dog may be a little greasy but will smell delicious to you and not to the fleas.
You will need to repeat this massage at least every two days for about a week until you can see the fleas decreasing.
Make sure that the massage is part of a concerted effort at eliminating the fleas, including washing the dog's bedding, mopping floor areas daily and vacuuming (empty the bag or contents into the garbage bin immediately after to remove the fleas from your house).

Tips
Use this time to bond with your dog. Talk to her gently and release your tensions of the day at the same time - massage is a precious and caring act.
Wash the dog's bedding in hot water to kill fleas. If the dog has a basket or similar bed, take it out into the sunshine and hose it down and let the sun do its job (fleas are at their worst in summertime, so this should not be a problem)
You can also feed Brewer's Yeast powder to your dog's diet (approx 25mg per 5 kg (11lb) bodyweight during the period that you are trying to eliminate the fleas

Warnings
Pennyroyal oil should not be used on pregnant dogs, or by pregnant women
Pennyroyal oil is highly toxic in high doses, so make sure it is only 1 drop that you use and leave the lid screwed on tightly and put the bottle out of the reach of children and pets; it is worth using, however, as it is the vital anti-flea ingredient
All essential oils should be handled with care as they all have a toxic potential if swallowed by children or pets; keep well-guarded and away from them
Essential oils should be stored in a dark, cool area to prevent them from going rancid

Things You'll Need
2 teaspoons of sunflower oil
2 drops orange oil
3 drops citronella oil
3 drops lemon oil
1 drop pennyroyal oil (see warnings above)

To get rid of fleas, you have to sanitize your house. Even if your dog has been dipped, etc., if there are fleas are residing inside your dwelling, then you have to exterminate them, get rid of the fleas off your dog, and then your dog will not be too likely to get fleas again in your house. If he is an outside dog, the cycle repeats itself, and you may have the same problem all over again.

There is a new product my vet recommended called "Revolution". It's heart worm and flea prevention in one. Seems to be working great for my dogs. You may also consider getting rid of the source by spraying around the exterior of your home as well as foggers for your home. Wash their bedding also. Make sure your pets are away if you fog or spray your home.

The fleas must be in your house, carpets, rugs, woodwork, and bedding. You must get everyone out of the house, cover all foods, and set off several flea bombs inside your house. These are pressurized cans of insect spray that emit a fog of fine insect killer. One can is used per room. That treatment will kill all the adult fleas. Repeat the treatment in 5 days to kill the fleas that just hatched from flea eggs and again in 5 more days to kill the left over fleas that just hatched. Then maybe you can have some peace and quiet.

Each time you set off bombs, be sure to wash your pets in Flea Soap to kill all the fleas on the animals themselves.

Cheers,
Zah

have the dog professionally flea dipped, and then seriously flea bomb the house, it gets expensive, about $100 alltogether, but its worth it.

then you have to wipe it all down with bleach water and clean all the fabrics, wash the clothes, do the dishes.

a good idea is to put masking tape around your fridge and freezer seals to make sure the 'bomb' don't get into your food, also do that with cabnets, if you have food that gets contaminated, throw it out.

also, you can have a professional come and do it, but will cost alot more money.

use a dust mask too if you do it at home by yourself, and make sure you get the vet to keep the dog at least 2 days, and dip him 2 times.

You probably have a lot of fleas in your yard. Get your yard sprayed and keep your dog flea treated and you will probably have better luck. You will probably also need to bomb your house a time or two to get rid of all the fleas in their various stages.

Bathe your dog a couple times a week, get one of those 5 month collars that kills fleas and their eggs (I think it's made by Hartz), spray your house with raid for fleas and their eggs, and one last thing...it works. Put a pan of water under every nightlight you have in the house. That should take care of the problem. It takes a little bit of time, but it does work.

Yea i am having that problem.

I think the trick (which I need to do) is spray the house, and yard if they go out. And wash the dog all in the same day, then put the flea drops on them.

If you do one on one day then the rest on anther you will never get rid of them.

Make sure everything is sprayed, couch, rug, where they lay...all in one day
