12 Chairs is awesome--a very laidback, artsy place. It's located at the intersection of MacDougal and King streets, just south of Houston. Architecturally speaking, it's rare to have a T intersection in Manhattan and it's fun to sit by the window and look out.
The food is great--very sweet pancakes, fresh berries, omelettes, and creative salads. Everything is fresh and delicious. Not diner food by any means.

My two favorite brunch spots are Clinton Street Baking Company (note cash only and no reservations) on the Lower East Side and Aquagrill in Soho.
