Most dreamcatchers from stores are not even authentic. You are a small part native american like many other people are. I dont think 1/16 even counts and 1/8 is less then 1/4.

First, why is this in the catagory "Etiquette"???
Second, as stated below, a DreamCatcher is not a "pride" symbol.
Since you are part Cherokee, and part Apache, you should know that DreamCatchers are NOT part of your Native American background.
Dream catchers are an authentic Native American tradition from the Ojibwa (Chippewa) tribe. The Ojibwa would tie sinew strands in a web around a small round or tear-shaped frame (in a way roughly similar to their method for making snowshoe webbing) and hang the resulting "dream-catcher" as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares.
Having a tattoo, or one in your car, office, home, whatever... It does not symbolize "pride", nor the fact that you are part Native American.
MANY people now-a-days like dreamcatchers, and just like having them around.
If you want to show your "pride", first, begin with geneology. Study your family, and it's history, and who your grandparents, cousins, ancestors are/were...
If the Cherokee and Apache were are prolific in numbers back in the old days, as those claiming to be related to them now... Then the settlers would NEVER would have had a chance.

Watauga is correct, a dreamcatcher has nothing to do with pride. I suppose, if you want to look at it that way, you could take pride in the fact that so many people without a drop of Native American blood in their veins have adopted the dreamcatcher as an ornament. Or, you could be shamed that they have taken a piece of your heritage and corrupted it. Take your choice.

Dream Catchers aren't a sense of pride it's a superstition. They are hung in windows so that bad dreams get stuck in them like a web.
Therefore, cars aren't necessarily the best place for them, I hope there aren't that many people sleeping in their cars.
Pride and involvement with your community are as important as genetic makeup to be considered native american.

I'm 1/16 Cheerokee, and I can personally tell you that dreamcatchers have nothing to do with pride. They are a superstition symbol-if you hang one over your bed, they will capture any evil that enters your dreams and, supposedly, hold it prisioner.

No, they are just to prevent bad dreams. I don't know why you'd stick one in your car, you shouldn't be sleeping while driving.
