Yes, just like dog breeds. For example: Persians are usually shy & hide from strangers, but calm & like to lay on their owners laps. They are not big climbers. On the other hand, Abyssinians are very active, not a 'lap cat' and like to get up on top of things like refrigerators for a good vantage point. They like to be warm & don't care for air conditioning.

I've heard that they can. I know that my long hair cat is the most loveable cat I have ever had. Even more than past dogs. I have found this across the board. Those hairless cats are suppose to be a very outgoing breed as well. If you want an extremely loveable cat. Find a FAT long hair cat. You wont be able to sleep without the cat trying to get under the cover. The hair sucks though.

Yes, but only to a certain degree. Some cats are known for being very affectionate and vocal while some are more aloof. Though there are going to be variations within any breed.

Yes, they vary depending the breed.
But they always can have a very distinctive personality although they are the same breed

Yes, they do, but I don't know of any real traits belong to who, because I have had the same cat for 14 years!

Some breeds have reputations for their temperments...especially mainecoons and siamese...known for being aggresive and high strung, respectively.
Most breeds really could go either way, depending on environment.

My best cataholic friend says they vary by colors: blue is goofy, orange (light orange, I mean) is sweet, siamese is crazy, black is independent...I have 2 blacks and a siamese and they are all crazy, and mostly independent, and their personalities are different. Kinda like people!

I thought that they did until I got our last cat. His litter mates are sweet and kind. He is a demon. Now I think they all have their own inscrutably awful cat personalities,

very much. I have a purebred himilayan and he's very affectionate and sweet, and on the other hand I have a pure bread bengal and she's very aloof and doesn't cuddle very much. I have 12 cats and they're all very different.

Yes, do you know any Siamese cats? They are high strung and very vocal.
