it's easier to start as young as possible. We had exposed to our daughter the differences between girl and boy ever since she was born....

Let her watch educational programme whenever avaliable expecially those on childbirth.

I actually told her when a man and a woman got married, they'll love each other and the "worm" and "egg" will meet and become a baby, and tell her where the baby will come out from.

It's parent's job, make sure you're giving them correct information.

I will explain the sex to my children when they are about four, five, or if they ask earlier then that. I will continue doing this for the rest of their time they live in my home. I feel the earlier you start--the easier it'll be to talk about it. I can not believe people wait until kids are in their pre-teens to talk about this. I figure if sex is a typical conversation with my children and I--they will feel comfortable coming to me when they need help. I also plan on getting my daughters on birth control at fourteen no matter if they are sexually active or not and providing all my children with condoms early on. It's pretty proven that abstinence in this day and age doesn't work. We need to talk about preventing these things! We shouldn't wait for the questions to come up--normally they ask them too late.

I kind of went off in a rant--and didn't answer the question. Sorry! I will use the same book that my mother did when we were that age. It is called "Where did I Come From?" It's a great book to read together and answer questions along the way.

why, are they asking or do you just think it is time they know? You should have the talk with the girl, and the dad the talk with the boy. That will save you half the trouble. I dont know what mothers tell daughters, but my dad didnt use birds, bees, or buffalos as examples, he gave it to me straight, and accuratly i found out. ps,jenintn, does it work that way, wouldnt the baby knock her teeth out if it wnt that way?

Hmm through movies starting with G rating all the way to PG, you dont need go beyond that assuming the kids are young. Also talking to them about reproductive cycles among plants, animals and guiding them towards the knowledge of human reproductive cycle.

Now of days kids seem to know so much about everything that the age old "stork" story won't work any more. Try telling the kids that girls and boys are different because they have different private parts and when they are adults then they can do adult things involving these private parts.

I remember wondering this same thing when my son turned 13, so i decided to approach it with humor. I told him that his gun no longer shot blanks and that it was loaded, i told him that since his gun was loaded he could get girls pregnant, he understood what i was telling him and he got a big kick out of the way i explained it to him, he laughed so hard he was crying. Put i got my point across, just be open and answer all their questions, Good Luck!

Depending on their age, you give them just enough information to not confuse them. Give them a little bit of information at a time, let them absorb it, give them a little more when they are ready for it. Don't wait until they are teenagers, thinking they aren't having sex yet. I work in a middle school and trust me, some 11 year olds are having sex, without a clue about what they are doing.

This is easy well in theory when they are little you give them simple answers they can handle older kids need to know all you know. In today's world knowledge is power. I told my daughter once she was old enough that is as the giggle factor went down I told her more.

Tell the truth. But remember tell the age appropriate truth.ie just because your 5 year knows that Mommy and daddy make babys he/she most likely does not care exactly how its done nor at that age need the grafic details.
