My husband is in the Marines and is currently deployed. I moved across the country to be with him when he got reassigned to a different station. After we went through all the stress of moving, we moved on to the stress of an impending deployment. While he's deployed, you worry about what he's seeing, how he'll change, among a million other things. It's a million times worse if you decide to have children during deployments. It's not an easy life and most wouldn't choose it, but it's not impossible to get through, and if you end up successful, it'll make your relationship a thousand times stronger. The military provides you with plenty of resources as far as counseling and support, and I think it IS a good idea to move to a military town, because the only way you can ever, truly understand how difficult it is is to go through it yourself. You really have to be prepared to make a big committment to yourself and him, because it's serious stuff when they leave, and you need to be able to trust and rely on each other 100%.

My husband is an Air Force pilot, and his brother was a marine. It's difficult but you get used to it. You have to develop a strong support system and make the most of your time togheter. The military is very good at taking care of the spouses.

It's so very hard. You should expect him to go to Iraq. You should also expect hardships from your relationship from it. He won't come back the same. If he goes don't move to the Marine town you'll be miserable. Those towns are awful. Try to stay busy and do not watch the news.
