I did a little detective work on this one -
Bru miscounted on Tyson - he forgot Tony Tubbs.
Tyson and Holyfield share the top spot -10 apiece.
Ali comes in second, with 8.
You can count them yourself on the box.rec site.
Jane Furrows is right - Francois Botha is not a champ.
Holyfield -10
Tyson - 9
Ali - 8

Difficult question. Joe Louis defeated Braddock, Carnera, Sharkey, Baer, Walcott (2) for a total of 6 over former champs and Muhammad Ali defeated Liston (2) Frazier (2) Norton (2) Foreman and L Spinks for a total of 8 over former champs.

Smitty tough question. Purely a guess: Ali ? I can recollect Ali defeating seven by your criteria: Liston, Patterson, Terrell (I'm countiing fighters who were also "given" the belt), Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Leon Spinks. Could also be Holyfield. I'm wrong Holyfield beat eight.

Yes, interesting question for the statisticians. Mike Tyson.
- Trevor Berbick - Pinklon Thomas
- Tony Tucker - James Smith
- Larry Holmes - Micheal Spinks
- Frank Bruno - Bruce Seldon
- Francois Botha
I hope the spotlight doesn't fade from Iron Mike, he's still the man in my opinion.

Botha beat Axel Schultz to gain the vacant IBF title, but it was changed to a No Contest shortly afterwards when he tested positive for steroids. Since that drops Tyson to nine, I'll give Holyfield the edge here, with the following ten wins:
Pinklon Thomas (WBC)
Michael Dokes (WBA)
Buster Douglas (World)
George Foreman (World)
Larry Holmes (World)
Riddick Bowe (World)
Michael Moorer (World)
Ray Mercer (WBO)
Mike Tyson (World)
John Ruiz (WBA)

Interesting question but really without any proof of greatness. If a fighter is really dominant in his era he would only beat one or two. Once when he takes the title and the second probably at he end of his career
