They go through tremendous growth spurts, and the body reacts this way . They also could be dreaming, sometimes I can see my cats eyes roll way back inside their lids, their little lips quiver, and they make those cut little quips, but usually when they are young, it is because of growth spurts, and dreaming.

It depends on how old the cat is; when they are kittens they twitch beccause there muscles are developing. I don't know why older cats twitch.

Possibly due to hyperkinesthesia.

If you mean that the skin and fur on kitty's back makes contractions, twitchy little ripples, that's hyperkinesthesia.

Hyperkinesthesia is a poorly understood condition and there's no known cure. Fortunately it seems to be harmless. If it seems to be bothering kitty or making her overly sensitive, maybe her vet can prescribe something to ease the symptoms. Chances are, though, that it doesn't bother her.

Ahh, they might be scared or someone in the house is making a VERY loud noise.. Cats DO NOT like loud noises AT ALL!!! Even SCREAMING!!!!!!!!
