if I ignore him, he come out, walks up my body and jumps on my head. Is it 'cos he loves me, hates me or is he just a control freak?

He adores you!
It's as if he's saying,"Hello? Hellloo! Good morning."
He simply wants your attention. It's a new day and birds are usually bright eyed and energetic in the morning...not to mention hungry.
And I can imagine that jumping up and down on your head is an excellent method of getting your attention.
Believe me, if he didn't love you he wouldn't be taking a stroll up your pajamas and bonking you on the noggin.
I think it's completly charming; your 'Tiel must be quite a character!

Your tiel loves you.
Cockatiels are very social animals, but they do "pick their people".
He is trying to get your attention.
It's nothing to worry about.

Your bird does this because he loves you, wants to be near you as much as possible, and wants to be taken care (water changed, etc.) as soon as he is awake.
If the time is too early for you, make sure to put a dark cover over his cage to keep him asleep longer.
