I'm no atheist, but you can't convince anybody about the existence of a god by trying to say that something doesn't have an answer. If that were the case, would it be a legitimate proof? Wouldn't be the same as convincing somebody 10,000 years ago of the existence of a god because lightning was unexplainable? The only real proof of anything spiritual has to come from exploring spirituality itself. This has to be seen from within a person. You can't expect somebody that has not recognized it to look to the outside world and realize what is within.

Theory:
A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.
Got that? A theory is the best that science can do. And the theory of the "big bang" has tons of evidence to support it, evidence that is measurable, and observable.
The observations made in the past decade agree almost completely with the mathematical models of the early universe. Star formation and planetary system formation is well understood and again observable, measurable, and agrees with predictions.
Astronomers can now look back in time to almost the very beginning of the universe, currently we don't have equipment powerful enough to go all the way to the start, but we will someday.
Astrophysicist and Cosmologist such as Steven Hawkins have done a great job of explaining how and why the cosmos exists in its current form. I would recommend "A brief history in time" as a place to start if you want more information.

you woke up from your deep sleep and perceived yourself different from everything else (and voila a universe is created in that instant) Explanation of this is that, when you're in deep sleep you're not consciously aware of any creation or existence of a universe. when you wake up, you take for granted that the universe is there again. quantum physicists who actually study light see that's not really continuous just a constant flow of flashes. just like how if you wave a glow stick in a circle, it seems like it's really a circle but once it stops you see that it's not so. so it depends on your perception.
others will say that the universe continuous if another person is asleep, so you see you can incorporate perception being all connected just like how all being are connected by the molecules and atoms of material existence. so when the perception of all is seen, and no diffireation of the universe can be ascertained, since everything has been asimilated. that experience is similar to how a star gets too dense and explodes which if i'm not mistaken creates a supernova. but anyways that's the harmony. once the perception of the collective consciousness isolated itself than another universe is created...

In the distant past... around 14.5 billion years ago, SOMETHING HAPPENED... and an infinitesimally small singularity suddenly expanded... and eventually cooled, simple elements formed (mostly hydrogen, a little bit of helium). These gasses coalesced into first-generation stars, which created heavier elements like oxygen, carbon, silicon, and then those stars exploded, making those materials available to 2nd generation stars. Over several billions of years, galaxies formed, more stars formed along with planets... and things began to look pretty much like they do today.
The key to your question lies in the phrase, above... 'SOMETHING HAPPENED'. The scientist's ANSWER to the question "OK... so WHAT happened?" is "We don't know yet... but it could be this, or this, or this, or that."
The religious person's answer to the question "OK... so WHAT happened?" is "The scientists don't know... so God did it."
The scientists' answer... "We don't know"... is intellectually honest; it acknowledges their present lack of knowledge.
The religionists' answer... "God did it"... is NOT intellectually honest; it defaults to a condition of self-delusion... the certainty that their ideation maps to reality, without anything to support it, other than their own wishful, magical thinking.

Damn, honestly, I don't know.
See how easy that was to admit? "I don't know". Try it sometime. It's healthy.
Why don't you go ask a professor who may actually be about to explain it to you (in detail) instead of harassing people on Yahoo! Answers? Oh yeah, I know why, because you don't really want to know the answer, only to b*tch.
Now, where did "god" come from again? Since something can't come from nothing and all.

Believe it or not, but I don't have that answer. All I have is a hair-brained theory that I'm not confident enough in to discuss.

As a member of the divine family, I can't tell you the details only that I thought it into existence.

Or could be what you refer to as "god" is actually the Cosmos.
P.S. to "Christian Lady". "Universe" comes from uni (whole) and verse (turn) and means the whole world as far as we can see.

Here's sort of a simple answer, based on the word:
uni = one
verse = spoken
Just like the bible says...God spoke it into existence.

uni - one
verse = song
WE sang it into existence. ;)
WE are god, but we are also not god, also god might not even exist, but we might not even exist, regardless, our thoughts created everything we are thinking
