I know you hate that... but it got your attention. Why do so many christians feel the need to bully other people into beliving the same thing. Are christians that inscure? Is that why you feel the need to gather in large groops ( silently judging each other; i used to go, and i heard the whispers)I mean, come on, there is telling someone about god, and there is harrassment. How are churches diffrent from cults? Because they are socially accepitable? i would like to know your thoughts. (sorry if some spelling is off)

Because they have been led astray into a dangerous cult, and just like any other dangerous cult they think its the way to some sort of heaven. As for the gathering in groups, people just like to gather into groups and be social with each other. Religion is their excuse. There is no difference between christianity and cults, in fact i believe christianity is one of the worst cults to be in because they are so shure of themselves, and the moment you become completely shure of yourself, you are in trouble. True knowledge and wisdom come from constant thinking and re-thinking, testing, proving, progressing, etc., and not from setting a standard for your life just so you dont have to think anymore, or philosophise anymore, because you think you already have the answers, so why think anymore? But dont hate these people, because they are fragile and they truly, truly believe this stuff so you have to be very careful when talking to them. And besides religious differences arent a reason to be angry at somebody until it starts hurting you or your family or loved ones, or you think it is hurting others. I think we as non-christians have to be on our guard though because they believe some crazy, wacked out things and i think its only a matter of time before they cause some real trouble.

Why do they preach their religion to you? They are following the last commission that Jesus gave them, which is to preach the gospel to everyone.

Are they that insecure? Nope. They are that confident that they are right.

"Silently judging each other, i heard the whispers" Sounds like you were hanging with the wrong crowd while you were there. Whispers don't travel very far.

Why do they gather in large groups? Because it is easier then having the preacher go around door to door all week long preaching the same message over and over until everyone has heard it. (But if you prefer that, we could try to arrange to get him by your house. Repost and let us know which evening is best for you)

How are churches different from cults? The churches teach you principles of God and then let you live them out in the real world. While cults general pull you in so tight that you have no life outside of the group.

Can you give some concrete examples of this bullying? Feel free to cut and paste.

At our church we're often reminded that we're not there to judge anyone. If you did, in fact, hear whispers, was it just the actions of a few. I don't see how you heard whispers from the entire church.

I agree there may be harassment in some churches, but I've never encountered it. You do realize that there are hundreds of thousands of churches out there with different beliefs and practices. Just because you encountered one that didn't meet your needs, doesn't mean the rest are bad.

Let's see how are churches different from cults? No one forces us to show up every week. There's nothing in our faith that says we have to go to church. Going to church is hardly "socially acceptable." What part of the world do you live in? A church is a place where you can go to learn to grow in your faith or not grow in your faith. Everything is voluntary. You can participate in the community, gaining friends and support with life or you can listen and leave. I'm not sure how you'd equate that to a cult.

Completly secured here, I never will tell anyone anything that they do not wish to hear or talk about, bullies stink, back stabbing talking behind the back only shows the evil hearts of others. We are not here to judge or bully around others, only to pass along the good news that Jesus Loves you and you can have eternity in Heaven. I am a non cult, non religeous and most likely socially unaccepitable person, but I live for Christ and I'm not worried about what others think, so it's all good. FREEDOM

When one calls another a cult-it usually says more about them than the group. Gordon Melton

Cults can be used in a positive or negative connotation. The term cult is generally used as a hateful, snarl word that is intended to intentionally devalue people. The term often creates fear & loathing among the public& contributes to religious intolerance.

The only "crime" of most 'cults' is that, they hold different religious beliefs from whomever is doing the attacking.

So,tell me truly who are you trying to bully? who are you intolerable of? who are you judging? who are you haressing?who are you attacking? who do you fear and hate ?

If you believe in it,it is a religion or perhaps "the" religion, and if you do not care one way or another about it,it is a sect; but if you fear and hate it,it is a cult.----Leo Pfeffer

I can not deny what I know to be TRUTH, I am not insecure of who I am in Christ.

1Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the Faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.

I don't remember how many times I have explained the Gospel of Christ to questioners on here and I am still amazed at the haters that don't know the first thing about it. If telling you what Jesus did for all of us is bully you into believing, then a man standing in the road with a sign "bridge out ahead" is bullying motorist about driving safely.... Jim

No Christians are not insecure. But they are just people, so
some may gossip just like other people. We don't try to bully
other people into believing, but it is our desire to tell others who
do not know our Christ about Him, so they won't miss the chance to go to Heaven at the end of their life here on earth.....
and it will definitely end - always has. Additionally, there are
many blessings Christians receive while living their life here on
earth that are irreplacable. We just don't want others to miss
out on all the love and blessings and the good life.

Easy now. Let's not generalize now.

Anyway, some religions do want you to believe as they do because they love you and want you to be saved as well. Now, you posess free will and can make your own choice. If you chose not to be saved, that is your choice. It's too bad, but you are a big girl and nobody can force anyone to do anything.

I am not ashames to know God. I know that I am not insecure. We are just trying to get all of you ready for the coming of the Lord. We want you to be saved from eternal damnation. Just remember how many chances you have had when the day comes but I hope that you learn to mature and listen to the christians around you.
