I am 5'0" & 100 lbs - I don't exercise much & have been blessed w/ a good metabolism (no kids yet, though, so I am sure it will change sooner or later)...I have recently started exercising more for my health. Is a brisk walk (my pace is VERY brisk) 3x a week for 30 min each a good amount to promote good health & not necessarily lose weight (but maybe develop some muscle)? I really hate working out & I get bored with it very easily, so I am trying to find something that I will actually stick with & I think 3x a week is a pretty attainable goal right now...

As an added note, buying exercise equipment, joining a gym or taking a class really isn't in our budget right now...I do have a 20-min Pilates workout plus a Leslie Sansone "Walkaway the Pounds" program that I mix in whenever I can't go out to walk.

To maintain fitness, that's fine. Take your ipod with you and the time will fly if you get bored. You also might consider checking out workout DVD's from the library. They are usually free and you can change them up enough that you won't get bored.

try pilates! most classes are usually 45 minutes or less, and some fitness centers offer the same session twice a week. I am a figure skater and tried it as a supplement and i LOVE it. i noticed a difference in my muscle tone after doing it only 5 times! if your looking to quickly tone your muscles (the way pilates works is it makes you slimmer while building muscle) without getting bored pilates is good for you! Most instructors will do new things or progress with each week so it shouldnt be too boring.

I think you have a good start, particularly when adding pilates to the mix. You certainly have no reason to lose weight.
You should be walking fast enough to get your heart rate up but still be able to carry on a conversation

That's a great way to tone and condition your body for now, but eventually your body will get used to that conditioning level and you will have to increase the intensity of your workout to enjoy the same effects of the exercise. If you get bored easily, you may want to vary your workout more too. I like to alternate running, biking, and swimming.
