that breastfeeding mothers are better than bottle feeding mothers? That breastfeeding creates this bond that no formula using mom can ever have? (How subjective and speculative can you get?) I'll agree on the nutritional aspects as long as the mother is adequately nourished, but the verdict is still out on the transferrence of antibodies directly into the bloodstream from mom to baby via breastmilk. Sadly, humans do not appear to be the type of mammal this synthesis occurs in.

I just want proof that they are better mothers, and they love their offspring more than the rest of us. If you get five researchers and physicians with legit credentials stating this, I'll take a bow. I'm tired of lame rhetoric. I want PROOF. Please put your money were your mouths and ***-umptions are? Show me the proof.

Wow, okay, you're a little angry. I think you need to calm down before someone gets hurt here.

That out of the way, there is no proof whatsoever that breastfeeding mothers are better mothers and I've never heard that claim being made. Evidently someone has got under your skin about this and since you already know that what they're saying is pure BS why don't you just let it go? There are always going to be idiots out there with some lame@ss claim about something. You just have to be confident in your own knowledge and let them be their ignorant selves-it's their prerogative.

There will be no proof because there is no way this can be substantiated. I know plenty of mothers that breastfed that are bad mothers and many that are good mothers. I think that just holding your baby can form a bond equal to breastfeeding.

While I don't have an answer to your question at this time, check back with me in mid-November. We have a 'world renowned specialist' on breastfeeding coming to lecture our medical staff and whoever else attends on 'Controversies on Breastfeeding'...it's something our lactation specialist is really pushing hard for...she has earned the title of breastfeeding nazi from some of our new mothers.

Just let it go already. I asked for proof of why I SHOULD have weaned my son at 12 months. No one could provide it. I accepted that as proof that it is not a matter of should but one of personal choice and I now ignore answers that I don't agree with.

Why is this so important to you? I would never claim to be a better mom than you just because I was able to breastfeed my children. If there are moms out there saying such things, blow them off!

My nephew got a bottle of formula his second week and weaned himself the first month. Broke my sisters heart. That doesnt make her a bad mother, he fought for it.

Breastfeeding can raise the IQ of the baby by 15 points. I think its because it teaches them persistence in overcoming challenges, and acclimates them to not always having it easy.
