Check out the reviews at cnet.com and epinion.com. Read what the consumers write in the reviews for some really heated and/or unbiased opinions.

My opinion is the Sony 's are the best. Check out the 40" BRAVIA™ XBR® LCD Flat Panel HDTVKDL-40XBR2.

Personally, I would go bigger than 40 if you have the room. You won't regret it.

you need to purchase an HD Antenna. in case you used an antenna formerly and recieved channels this would be no concern. in fact I purely offered an HD antenna and that i exploit one with a 65db score and that i'm getting extra channels than I did formerly. those channels will are available in as such. Say your channel is 6 6- is your common non HD channel 6.a million- is your HD channel sometime you have diverse .a million or .2 or maybe .3 finding on the station and you will recieve one extra channel perchance that's a all climate station or some distinctive form of programming. For each and every thing else I purely use my common DVD and that i think of the photograph is purely positive. till Sony's Blu-Ray and common HD DVD gamers end competeing and make a form on that would be the dominate technologies I dont want to invest my funds the two which way. as a techniques by way of fact the recier-tuner your television till it grew to become right into a Plasma visual demonstrate unit could have had one in it. I dont understand why you will want to purchase a seperate tuner .

Stay away from Toshiba. Their sets go bad quickly and customer service for repair/replacement is horrible. Look up Toshiba white line problem.

Non-projection, non-plasma leaves LCDs. Take a look at Pioneer, Sony, RCA.

If you think you are getting wide screen panoramic views, your not, you are just getting distorted stretched pictures which look ridiculous when viewing people close up. If you can adjust the picture so the people look relatively normal and to what it should be you get a lot of wasted black space surrounding a much smaller picture. Find a good store and view the different models yourself. For that sort of money the store will gladly audition the best for you.

I'd say go for a 1080p resolution. It is the best available.

In addition, depending upon what your needs are, look at the connections available. If you never plan on hooking up your pc or laptop then certain connections won't matter. If you love to play video games, certain connections are needed. Etc.

Try going into an electrical shop and try them out for yourself. Panasonic is always popular.
