My religious parents would say no. They didn't like my favorite cartoon very much and didn't buy me any of the merchandise. So, now I collect Thundercat goodies as an adult. I have almost all of the figures and the big beautiful cat's lair.

No. "He-Man" was the metaphor, with Prince Adam and the Power of Greyskull. H-B who made the cartoon where dedicated Christians, and often let Christian metaphors slip into their work.

Superman, on the other hand, was created by a couple of Jewish high school students.

Lion-O being a Jesus like figure. Jesus is often described as a lion. I guess the cat people could also represent Israel or the Jewish people.

Wow. I thought Superman was the only Jesus like figure in cartoons.
