Both dresses are gorgeous, but since most people will be wearing black, I suggest wearing the lavender. Any color is appropriate for a fall wedding, and the lavender looks elegant, classic and beautiful. Enjoy yourself!!

I think that now a days pretty much any color goes. I would think if it is a fall wedding, how about a deep brown. It's not black like everyone else but it is still a dark color. I personally say wear what makes you feel the prettiest. Just don't outshine the bride.

Where what you want. You'll be happier that way. Besides, the purple one is more tasteful than the black, esp if the ceremony is in a church.
If you are looking for colors though, the purple is really more of a winter or spring color. You could do maybe a darker or richer purple, a wine color, magenta, dark orange, most shades of red, bright true or mustard yellow, dark green, brown.... or your favorite, black!

Me too, I'm not a big fan of black (well, maybe I am a little but that's not the point here LOL) but I think the black dress is really pretty!!
Don't get me wrong, the lavender one is very cute too, but I think it would look kind of out of place for a fall wedding...
Plus if you choose to wear black your outfit will match with the rest of your family's.

Whatever you are happy in is the best choice for you. I'm sure not everyone at the wedding will be wearing black, and if I were the bride I would only care that you were there, not what color your dress was.

I would say go with the purple one. The black one is nice but the purple one is more for a fall wedding and it looks like it is more for a wedding (it is more formal) It is short (good for fall), it is not too bold (good for fall). Don't worry you won't be the only one not wearing black you won't be uncomfortable. Have fun at the wedding!!
I wouldn't listen to mbjwithouse I looked at the dresses and some of those I have seen bridesmaids wear in weddings you do NOT want to look like a bridesmaid besides the wedding is tomorrow. Stick with the purple!!

I would add a bright colored shrug over the black dress with matching earrings and shoes...Maybe even a big chunky necklace that way the color stands out and the black serves as a great back-ground for the fun accessories! I think that the lavender one is just to springy for this time of year...maybe with heavier, darker accessories....but probably not!

Unless it is specified that this is a formal event (which is a bit odd at 4 pm), NO ONE should wear black to the wedding. That is a funeral color, and would be an insult to the bride & groom.
Looking at the links, even the lavendar dress would be appropriate for a formal affaire, so I'd go with that one, to be sure.
P.S.
You should have your mom call someone who is related to the bride & groom to confirm that it is a formal event, in order to ensure that it will be okay for them to wear black.

I would not wear either of those. . . the lavender one is great for a spring or summer wedding, but not fall. The black one looks more like lingerie than a dress. I'd keep digging in that closet.

You can wear whatever colors you want any time of the year. Would you rather wear something you're comfortable in of your choosing or something you aren't comfortable in that someone else dictates for you?
That said, while I am not really into strapless, I much prefer dress #1.
