I want to thank each of you that responded to my question about my dog jumper. I appreciate the time each of you took to respond.

Sad to say I lost my dog this afternoon. I took him to the vets and had exrays done and it was very bad. He had massive back problems with his spine. She did say I could take him to a vet in Columbus or Pittsburg for spine surgery and if he was younger I would have really given that some thought, He went from 2pm yesterday till 8am this morning not going to the bathroom because hhe didnt want to walk . The steriods was doing nothing for him and the Tramadol was not working for pain.
I could have brought him home and put him on moraphine for pain but what kind of life would t hat be for him .
It was very hard today I was not expecting to put my dog to sleep so its been a emotional day for me. thank god I have 3 cats to come home to and my Sebrian Husky to come home to and that has helped alot today.

Once again thank you for your answers

I'm sooooo sorry. I had a similar problem with my 11 yr old yellow lab. I spent months carrying his rear end around for him, til I could do it no longer. I lost him 4 1/2 months ago. They can run now and be free again!

i'm soooo sorry. we lost our dog 3 years ago to something along those lines. she had a degenerative nerve disease in the base of her spine and eventually couldnt walk or stand. we had tried some meds to slow the progression, but it didnt work. eventually one morning my mom woke up crying cause smokey wouldnt get up to go out and just went to the bathroom where she had been laying and wouldnt even get up out of it, she also didnt know she had been laying in it a while since she had no feeling from her hips down. we had to have the vet come to our house and put her to sleep in our kitchen. needless to say that was the worst day of my life. i was 7 when we got her and she was about 15 when we put her down. it was like my sister and i felt so horrible. i still remember her yelping when they gave her the seditive before they uthenized her and i can still hear it over and over. she hated shots so much. we had another dog at the time, but she's blind and obnoxious and we had to lock her in the garage during the ordeal and i still feel bad like she didnt get to say goodbye either. she just came back in the house and tripped over smokey's body and kept going like it was nothing. sometimes i wonder if she ever figured it out.

ok, well now i'm crying here at work. i'm so sorry again. its such a hard thing to go thru, just know you did the right thing. *hugs*

I am so sorry you lost your friend, I know how much that hurts, like losing a family member. But at least, as you said you won't have to come home to an empty house, that will help a lot. Good luck to you and may God grant you peace.
