Bodies have consciousness. If there is no body there can be no consciousness. An organism is an organism because its part act in unison to form a whole. Without integration of parts the whole cannot exist. And if a whole cannot exist then surely it cannot think. And without thinking there is no consciousness.

P.S. It occured to me later that consciousness also has a body. Consciousness is actually an interaction of matter in the form of neurotransmitters and other chemicals. This is all a game of atoms, or quarks, or may be even some other smaller particle which we may discover later.

Hard to say, some random thoughts:

Consciousness is a form of energy. Einstein believed that since energy never dies, it has to go somewhere, therefore he believed that our "energy" continues after death. Where it goes is the question eternally at debate. But I would say for us to experience consciousness, at least on this plane, a body is required since the brain is the mechanism that contains it - so the body must come first.

A type of consciousness may be just hanging around waiting for a body, but until we have evidence of that we go with what we know for now, the body is here first.

Further into it though, one could think that they come into being at the same moment. A great question, thanks for making my brain "sing" this afternoon, I'll be thinking about this one all day :).

Bodies can exist with or without consciousness. I don't know any consciousnesses that exist without bodies. I would have to say the former based on my experience.

Bodies have consciousness. Consciousness is a property of part of your physical being - your brain. Your consciousness will cease to exist when your body stops functioning.

I agree w/IDAHOMIKE! Our bodies will die and our soul will rise. You are also asking a question that is not a question! Think about it, "Do bodies have consciousness or do consciousness have bodies?"

Kinda like one in the same just spun around....

in my view i don't have faith that understanding is a function of physique or the rest cloth. some thing that i hit upon exciting is the reality the technological know-how looks to hold a schizophrenic view of understanding. Quantum mechanics shows to us that without an gazing understanding the cloth fact as all of us are conscious of it could not even exist. Minus an observer all that would rather exists is means. the 2d understanding determines that it is going to show screen this means it stops behaving as means and starts off to act as a particle or as count. word that easily commentary won't be needed. The motive to show screen is sufficient to deliver forth this modification in habit. What it is doubtless asserting is that understanding would someway be transforming into the cloth fact by potential of the easy act of gazing. at the same time as no person claims to fullyyt comprehend Quantum theory, this actual component of that is been examined and retested hundreds of circumstances with comparable consequences. we've been deliver approximately have faith by potential of the organic and organic sciences that understanding is a manufactured from some electo chemical reaction interior the concepts. If the cloth fact is created by potential of understanding that is not achievable via fact, the concepts/physique is a factor of the cloth fact. The concepts can hardly be transforming into what's already transforming into it. this would be a case of putting the cart earlier than the pony.
