Heh, being called "the Atheists" sounds like my grandma talking about "the gays"...
The reason I'm atheist (lowercase, we're not a religious group) is that I don't see any reason to believe in God and I see lots of reasons why I shouldn't. I used to think that the question of whether God existed or not didn't matter, since we could never tell either way, and I used that as justification for superstitious behavior since it just might matter. I considered myself agnostic at that time. I refused to join any religion because I disagreed with their varied policies, such as Christianity's stance on homosexuality and Islam's strict code of conduct. I could do well enought with morality derived from human interaction.
Later, I learned about the psychology of faith. Belief is something that comes naturally to us. We believe we see a face, when we just see random shapes and shadows. We believe we hear a voice, when it's just a wind. People are very imaginative, and often our imaginings are wrong. Our overactive imaginations led us to connect dots between the abnormal flight patterns of a flock of birds and a drought, even though they might have been totally unrelated. When we drew that line, however, we invented the ancient ancestors of God.
When I realized where my superstitions came from, I understood why I always felt silly performing them. There was no connection between random chance and blowing on dice, even though I felt there might be one, even though I was told there was one by others. I understood then that there is no magic, no supernatural, and no God in this world.
Given that we made God up by hearing voices in the wind and irrational feelings of love and fear, it makes a lot more sense to trust myself to cold, hard logic. That's why I'm an atheist.

Lack of proof. There is a scientific explanation for everything we can observe, even if we don't know or fully understand that explanation yet.
We have some really good information about the earliest moments of the universe, and a fairly clear understanding of its development after that.
We have some really good information about how solar systems form.
We have some really good information about how life is not a "life or non-life" issue but in fact something of a weighted spectrum. This is called abiogenesis, and is very well established by experiments and other theories (chemistry & physics).
We have conclusive evidence of evolution, including a limited amount of information from the fossil record, untold wealth of information in the DNA of every living being on the planet, plus the existence of transitional forms in the fossil record, plus the existence of vestigal organs.
So then, why the need for a deity? There are numerous plausible hypothesis of the beginning of the universe that do not require initiation or that are infinitely initiating, thus no need for a deity to even 'wind up the unvierse' as it were.
Your God is God only of the gaps in science, and his room is rapidly dwindling.
As for morality, it is often pointed out (I think by DuckPhup), that 75% of Americans are Christian, and 75% of the prison population is. But 10% of Americans are agnostic/atheistic/secular, and only 0.2% of the prison population is. This means either atheists are smarter and thus get caught less, OR, are more moral than Christians. Which interpretation do you prefer?

Wow... tell me this was a joke.
Please.
Ok, I guess it's not a joke. And I was so hoping it was. *sigh*
Your beloved "irreducible complexity" is nothing more than a philosophical speculation, not scientific proof of anything. In fact, please check this link for more information on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irreducible_complexity#Criticisms_and_contrary_evidence
And no, I'm not an atheist so that I can "do whatever I want". Why is it that theists are constantly assuming that I am who I am not because of rational deduction but because of a compulsion to be morally bankrupt?
I don't do good things or live a decent life because of some perceived threat of punishment from on high. I do so because of my humanity. You can call that "God given" if you'd like. You can attribute whatever you'd like to your prefered deity for all I care. The point is that your belief system and your favorite god don't influence my basic behavior. Morals and ethics come from me and a sense of compassion and understanding and those concepts can be very well comprehended and put into practice without an attached supernatural being.
I'm an atheist and I know that automatically inspires a lot of generalized and stereotypical reactions. I'm sure any Christian has experienced the same when they tell people they believe in God. Being an atheist doesn't necessitate sociopathy. It doesn't indicate intrinsic misbehavior or disregard for rules and standards of living. I am a good woman with a husband and a son. I've never smoked, done drugs, drank more than half of a flavored alcoholic drink in one sitting or comitted a crime beyond driving faster than the speed limit. I pay my taxes, I remain faithful to my spouse, I do the dishes, and I'm kind and honest as much as possible.
Don't buy into stereotypes.

Each one the evolutionists go back to the Evolution Religion for their proof and continue to use circular reasoning. As a person that promotes creationism, I have found it most effective to use scientific laws that void evolution, yet the evolutionist will continue to believe their Religion even though it has been void for over 50 years with all new evidence pointing in favor of creationism.
Evolution like any Religion has to be understood with the three consepts of Sociology:
1) Structualism-Functionalism theory
2) Conflict Theory
3) Symbolic-Interactionism
These three used as one will give you the full perspective of not only Evolution and Creationism, but the full perspective of all groups in the world.
Here is the break down of the Sociological theories:
1) Structualism-Functionalism: It states all groups have a structure and a complex system in society thats work for society. This Theory has positive view, and is used at the macro-level of society.
2) Conflict Theory: This theory looks at the the way society moves against it self. Although this a macro-level theory, it is dismal and is usually what Creationists and Evolutionists use against each other.
3) Symbolic-Interactionism: This is a micro-level theory that explores how people believe and interact with each other in small groups instead of large groups. Note: This theory can either be positive or negative.
So now it is our job to find how these three theories fit into both, our Evolution Theory and Creation Theory. Note that evolution in Sociology is a religion so I have used both titles for it.
How much more do you wish to know? Use the three theories of Sociology and find out.

Because if you read the bible, There are over 276 contradictions. Or fabrications added to make believe story's to control the masses. Not to mention that all you prof is written by people from over 400 years . Which was put together by very lousy editors. A book written by Jews which they don't even believe in. Not taking into consideration that all of it was translated over and over. If you put 10 people in a circle and speck into ones ear and tell them a story, When it gets back around it will never be the same story you started with. Try it,

Most Atheists are very intelligent people therefore they are logical. They believe in only what they can see and feel and prove with calculations. Some were raised that way and others may have been believers in god but due to circumstances, changed the way they think. I myself don't believe this all came from a "Big Bang" nor do I think it was created by an entity referenced in a book. As humans I don't think were smart enough to understand how this all came to be.

per chance they * shouldn't *. If God extremely gave all and various loose will, then atheists, for in spite of reason, have determined no longer to trust. As someone above already stated, "arguing" for God's existence is truly moot. interior the suitable, someone will trust because the Holy Spirit finally convicted them of the reality. If one does no longer trust interior the Holy Spirit, i do not see that happening. If an atheist decides their present day existence would not sense "proper", they're going to seek for some thing else. Do Christians have a "more advantageous acceptable" existence because of God? look at Paul, he changed into overwhelmed, whipped and run out of city for his beliefs. Christians ought to assert Christianity brings them convenience. An atheist ought to retort that they desire no such crutch. Christians ought to assert they sin a lot less. Ha! Neither has a lock on morality. You stated that we received't use "the afterlife" as a help for why Christianity is more advantageous acceptable. If one of those downside is placed on the reaction, then we ought to stay with memories in this earth. if so, if we decrease our reaction to existence in the international, lets discover that the atheist ought to * continually * think of their existence is more advantageous acceptable as an unbeliever. it truly is not till you change right into a trust that your attitude ameliorations to contain the afterlife. --- added ---- i spotted you stated both "interior the destiny" and "brushing off the afterlife". To a Christian, both are inseparable.

I just think its silly and absurd. Then when I started to notice the cult-like control religion, particularly christianity, has over its "flock", the feelings turned more toward disgust. I am not offended by those who follow religion, believe in magic ghosts, and look forward to the end of the world...that is their choice...however, i hold contempt for those (and it is a majority, like it or not) who feel its ok for their imaginary friends "words" to be used to control the lives of others, imposing their own man-made ideology and over the heads of others while claiming moral superiority...morality based on a single book of fairy tales. Its very disturbing.
oh, btw, why wont all you christians stop believing in god? is it because of arrogance...?

Don't you find it even remotely interesting that as far back as human civilizations has been studied, they all had a form of religion and/or worshiped a God(s). The Mesopotamians, the Sumerians, the Inca's the Aztec's the Mayans, Ancient Egyptians, EVERY ancient civilization discovered has worshiped. Even the Pagans, Wiccans and neo-pagan religions have a God(s). I have to wonder why a small handful of Atheist think that all the billions of people throughout history are wrong...And they are right...oh ye of little faith...

Funny you should mention a watch. There's a great book that deals with the subject you bring up that you might want to read.
"The Blind Watchmaker: Why the Evidence of Evolution Reveals
a Universe Without Design"
Richard Dawkins, 1986
But given the way you phrased your question, I see the chances of you reading it are a bit slim.
