I own a saint bernard, he is 8 months old and weighs 110 pounds. I feed mine innova evo, but mostly the raw diet. He really is not a big eater as i keep him on a feeding schedule and limit his intake. When fed dog food he would only eat about 30 pounds per week and this is feeding twice daily as they are very prone to bloat and feeding him twice daily so he does not gulp his food is a good preventive.
As far as the other dog i have never owned one but i feel it would be close to the same. As far as vet bills i have not had any yet besides the wormings and shots alot of it depends on quality of dog food you feed your dog and saint bernards love raw.
Feeding the commercial store brand foods will end up feeding more because they are filled with nothing but fillers and decayed rotten diseased euthanized animals.
Science diet fed to a saint bernard will only contribute to allergies. The better the food the healthier your saint would be.
I recommend a saint bernard, they are intelligent animals and they are very loyal.
here is a couple of excellant websites i used prior to owning mine that is a rescue.

They are about the same. A Saint is generally cheaper to buy, but they are about equal in cost to maintain.
The difference may be smooth or rough coat on the Saint. The more coat the addes cost of grooming or grooming tools.

If you have to ask then buy a fish! Both extremely large dogs & need lots of attention & grooming. Bernese have a lot of issues so read up on them

Thes eare both Giant breeds, as is my dog, a newfoundland. I spend about 50 a month on food and treats, and another 600 a year on vet and meds...and he is a healthy dog.
