Hell no. What exactly would that solve? Even if you believe that praying means or does something, it's clearly not educational. And in my opinion it is a bad idea for children to be given a religion in the first place. There's no way they're mature enough to make an informed, objective decision about it.

Just how would you stop it? Don't students has freedom of speech? Do you want to violate the First Amendment to the Constitution to try? One last question then you will see what I mean.. Should the school sponsor prayer, NO WAY! Prayer is an individual right and should be an individual practice especially in school... Jim

There should not be a school-endorsed prayer in public schools. That is why there is such a thing as a private school, that if you want your child brought up Catholic, or Lutheran, or Jewish, or Morman, you have your own environment to do whatever you want. I'm not saying if a kids wants to pray before lunch he should be sent to detention, I'm saying don't force religious beliefs on other people's children.

I'll agree to prayer in school on one condition: It can only be a religion that you don't like.

All godbots like yourself don't have the decency to admit what you really want: the ability to force your religion onto others. Then again, godbots don't *have* any decency....

When organizations (governments, schools, et al) are forced to permit prayers they don't like, they're the fascist - oops, fastest - to change their tune and keep religion out. Below is a typical example of your ilk.

The godbots never like it when they don't get their way.

I think there should be prayers for those who want it.
I don't necessarily believe that prayers should be broadcast over the loudspeakers, as each has his right to believe as he wishes. Instead I believe there should be prayer rooms/halls and times set aside so those who wish can pray, and those who don't won't be subjected to it.

There are important reasons behind the separation of Church and State. But there is also important reasons behind allowing people to practice their beliefs in a non-intrusive manor. And maybe that is the key. If there could be a way to allow the practice without being intrusive to others....I always try to respect others beliefs and practices....but I do get mad when people inflict their beliefs on me.

Well I can say it should not be banned! We prayed when I was in school & it seems as if things were better, not as much drugs, hate, violence, l'm sure it was there but not like today!. It should be on a volunteer basis. That is where our freedom of religion comes in

If a kid wants to pray, yes. but all the other religions should be able to do their thing as well. And if a student is an atheist they should be excused from it. It should be allowed if it is voluntary. But religion doesn't make one educated
