My supervisor said that I am indecisive and cant always make up my mind and stick with it. Being that I am young, and still finishing my bachelors degree, I would really like to take steps to correct this bad habit. Any suggestions?

Indecision is not a problem in and of itself, the ability to reason out a direction or come to a solution is. What to have to supper, what to wear, what time to make your appointment can all be indecisive issues that have little effect on how things turn out. That kind of behavior can irritate your friends and family no doubt, but is not usually damaging professionally. How did you decide on your major in school? How did you decide what school to go to? Those are decisions that you apparently made... Are you afraid of being wrong and that why you are not deciding which way to go with decisions? That is normally why people fear making a decision, they fear being wrong. Just make your best decision and go. If you are wrong, just learn from it and try it again, bottom line is that you need not fear being wrong unless you are a surgeon or airline pilot... Trust yourself and you will do well...

I used to be very indecisive too and I learned to do something that really helps. First of all, I think of all the options available to me before I make a decison. I weigh the pros and cons of each and talk them over with close friends. Then I just do it! I tell myself to imagine the worst case scenerio if my decision is the wrong one and usually that's not so bad. If you do make the wrong decision, can it be corrected? Will you lose your life? Will someone die? If not, then go with what feels right to you and hope for the best. Also, I always remember something my father once told me: Only a fool doesn't change his mind. So, if the decision is wrong, change it!

I frequently encounter situations that call for on -the -spot decisions. I would suggest to you to evaluate the options as they presented themselves and weigh the most favorable in your opinion.
1. Understand the situation.
2. Identify your options. 2.a.Evaluate them.
3. Choose the one that you can easily defend.
