I love the old actresses like marilyn monroe, audrey hepburn and grace kelly and was gonna try to incorporate their pictures in simple black frames but don't know where to go from there.

Your room sounds like it will be heavenly. Color? Champagne beige. Fabric? Satin! Carpet? Plush and very pale beige. An overstuffed, champagne beige satin comforter with matching satin and lace trimmed sheets and pillow cases. A Hollywood headboard with plenty of curves and upholstered in beige and gold brocade with LOTS of deep tufting. A french style vanity table with a trifold mirror,a lace skirt and a satin covered round ottoman with pleated skirt in front of the vanity. Hide the electronics in a french provincial armoire with openings in the doors covered with gold wire mesh and lined on the inside with gathered lace. On the floor, for an extra plush touch,a large oval Aubusson rug with a rose background. Across the bed for added warmth and style, drape a fake fur throw in leopard or chinchilla. Sorry, I just got lost in that room,I love the old Hollywood glamor perhaps a bit too much....a room like that can really take you away.

Try using soft pastel colors, soft pinks like traditional pink cotton candy pink. LIght blues, -
- woman where typicaly viewed as very femin, soft creatures.
-Try looking for some old vinyl records from the good will, casset players and cd players wearnt around.
- Big bands and burlesque shows where typical of the era.
- Lacey things for the girls and so forth,
- Another big help would be to rent or get a few old Black and White movies, with Bob Hope, and Gable,
look on the internet for movie actors from 1939 to 1948.
- MArilyn Monroe was a actress from the 50's

Stark white walls, with prints of their photos in simple black frames. If you can, get an iron bedframe (black wrought iron) or something like that. For bedding, think simple. Less is more. Accent on rich fabrics not on busy prints. Perhaps a tone-on-tone brocade in lipstick red or burgundy.

For a bedside lamp... think VERY simple with a white shade. Then drape a scarf over it for muted lighting - but be sure the scarf is NOT a fire hazard.

If you can, invest in an old-fashioned chaise lounge upholstered in a velvet or satin fabric. Use it as an accent chair, for reading or whatever.

If you have electronics, hide them in an old-fashioned armoire.

An old fashioned dressing table with a large mirror would be great also - the kind where you sit down to do your makeup, and it has drawers in it.

For accentuating knickknacks, try to find antique atomizer perfume bottles in antique stores. Practical, fun and beautiful.

An enourmous poster (for one wall, only if your room is big enough) of an Hollywood film or whatsoever. And play with colours and try to change your lights into 40s-50s Hollywood glamour style.

have fun!

If I were you I would go online and try to find I site that allows you to design a room and then see what you can do from there........ I bet you could print it out and then use that as a guide. Maybe head on over to your local hardware store and get some advice from the trained professionals.
